I would go with Hill next game but I’m a little more critical of Bennington. Yes he made some big saves near the end but even on the saves he makes, his movements are awkward and he’s not tracking the puck well. His pads are down and they didn’t elevate the puck so he still made the saves… but nothin about him is a calming influence on the team. He made the big saves at the end of the game but I think Hill should get a chance on Saturday.

Great game, and great Crosby. Very good showing for the NHL if this is the level the tournament sustains. I really enjoyed it. Kudos to the Montreal fans, they were electric, seemed like an incredible atmosphere in the building.

Always, always have to talk about McDavid at some point. It's so forced. He's not the focal point of the game, SN.

Did they talk about how McDiver almost scored on Bennington?

That was better than I expected in terms of the excitement. Super fun game. NHL needs to adopt 10 minutes of 3 on 3. Way more exciting than a shootout. Canada vs USA will be a fun game on Saturday.
Theodore went for x-rays on his wrist in the 2nd. Worst fear is an injury in this tournament.

So game 1 in the books, that was pretty much awesome start to finish. I hoped the players would compete somewhat hard and that was all I wanted to see, but that was so much fun. Crosby front and center leading the way for Canada and reminding everyone why he's the best player of the last 20 years. I can't wait to watch the rest of this event now.

I worry McDavid might finally learn how to really lead a team by watching Crosby operate for the time they’re together this tourney.

A lovely, storybook ending.

I don't think he puck hogged. He made smart plays, drove to the net and made the goalie make saves. The last thing you want in OT is an errant pass setting up a 2 or 3 on 1. To me he showed that he is the best player in the world right now.

Yeah. It was awesome watching Crosby showing all the younger stars on both teams that he’s still the best. Playing chess out there while everyone else is playing checkers. And he’s injured too. Really tough to cheer for a team with McDavid on it but even tougher to cheer against Crosby.
I’ve convinced myself that Crosby and McKinnon out-shining McDavid in this tournament will make up for McDavid potentially winning anything. Everything those two players do that bests McDavid diminishes him in some way. It’s why if the flames aren’t in the playoffs, I cheer for Crosby or McKinnon to add to their trophy cases.

Yeah. His shots were good plays. None of them were shots that missed wide, rimmed around the boards and lead to odd man rushes.

He did kinda hog it. But it was fine because he got it to the net each time he made a move. Generated four high danger chances. Nothing wrong with that.
If mcdavid does the same it's probably off a shin sending an odd man rush the other way. That's why mack doesn't pass to that chump.

Should have probably been 25 man rosters for this tournament.
14 forwards, 8 dmen, 3 goalies.
