Aren’t all government tax strategies authoritarian by nature?
Aren’t all wives crazy in… actually never mind on that one

When were they a reliable partner? Honestly…
Back and forth on pipelines, the Arrow,… they’ve been into isolationism since the early 1900s… and do it at will, whenever they feel like it. High quantity important trade partner: yes. Reliable????

Then our governments throughout the decades have failed us letting it get to this point. If you can't trust your neighbors, how do you not strive to be self-sufficient?

You have to look at it from their point of view. That age group is extremely pessimistic about their futures and there's growing resentment towards Canadian governments and older demographics that let things get to where we are today. Can you really say if you were in their shoes that you wouldn't at least harbor those kind of thoughts? I think a lot of us would.

100%. Or at least have multiple options for when one of your trading partners does… whatever this is.

OMFG. I am so sick of this narrative.
The truth is, there is a certain age group that doesn't know the meaning of hard work.
Go to ####ing school. Work hard. Work 3 jobs AND go to school if you have to. Are things hard? Maybe. Get over yourself. No one is going to do it for you.

lol okay boomer. This is why young people are disenfranchised. The hard work doesn’t pay off like it used to. Real wages have not kept up in a meaningful way to inflation and housing costs. I worked at Safeway during highschool (2004ish) and many of the people working there had homes and a good quality of life. That isn’t possible today. Not everyone is going to be make six figures and those people are becoming increasingly frustrated.

Dressing room conversation at beer league hockey night would support these findings. Pretty significant support for the idea.

Sure. I'm not saying it's the same. I'm not even saying it's easy.
But I also don't see any attempts to help themselves. Just lots of complaining, excuses and blame. That doesn't get you a house.
No one's going to do it for you.

A 30% pick up on assets is pretty good if people assume a 1 to 1 for some reason lol. I think people also dream about the cheap real estate and job opportunities in the US but don’t really understand the nuances. I’d be interested if they added the caveat of no public healthcare into that poll if things would change.

The one thing I didn't do was bitch and moan about the price of everything. And how it's everybody else's fault.
Do I think the government could do better? Yeah absolutely. But I'm also responsible for my own choices and I try to make the best of them.
I don't see why that's so hard to understand.

Said like someone who doesn’t know many people in the age range they are talking about. The point is that owning a house is now inaccessible to lot of of people and that historically hasn’t been the case in Canada. Half my friends wouldn’t have their house if their parents didn’t help them with a down payment. No amount of bootstrap pulling will get a person a house if they are a from lower middle class family and they are working a service job. Not everyone can be a professional making six figures plus and people who worked at service jobs used to be able to afford to own a place if they budgeted properly.

Real wage growth has quadrupled since 1980 while housing prices have increased almost 9x. There's a valid complaint there.
I don't think this is the governments fault entirely however, but I don't think the solution to re-engage people under 30 is "Pull up your bootstraps/work yourself to death". I say this as someone with a full-time career that does consulting off the side of my desk 20h+ a week.
Not everyone is ADHD enough to manage a ton of different clients.
