What a great night! Victory!

Pumas had virtually nothing all game. Huge effort!

That was an unreal goal to make it 2-1.

Biggest win in CPL history which is nice to hear.

First CPL team to beat and MLS team, and now first CPL team to beat a Mexican team...sounds nice.

First CPL team to win a game in the CONCACAF Champions Cup too! A historic night

I think it's first Canadian club team to beat a Mexican team? EDIT: I'm wrong. TFC has done it multiple times.

Absolutely historic. Why didn't I go this year instead of last year!?

Oh man, super fun night and such an amazing time at the pub. That’s the best Cavs game I’ve been to, and such a great night! I still can’t believe we won that!

Maybe somewhat inebriated here, but it’s been quite a party and all of us are just so happy!!

I was a little surprised at how deep Cavalry sat at times, but I imagine the small pitch played into that. Kobza and Montgomery won 8 out of 11 aerial duals between the two of them (from Sofascore) and owned their box. Pumas really didn't threaten much. Cavs gamble of ceding possession to them paid dividends as Pumas didn't know what to do with the ball, themselves a team who likes to defend and counter. And of course the rotated squad factors into that and it could be a very different lineup that awaits next week in Mexico.

Most (all?!) of us would've taken a one goal defeat and especially a draw going into next week. A win? We're in dreamland

I wonder if this is a tough read for you as well?

5 SOG for Pumas, with only 2 on target. But yes, men against boys. They couldn't penetrate. Cavs did a great job keeping them to the outside, or having possession with Pumas back line. They just "dropped in".

Remember when people wanted Tommy canned? Pepperidge farm remembers!

What a match. Cavalry looked much more composed than they did last year against Orlando. Felt it was back and forth and I didn't see many long stretches of play where we were just bunkering. Outside of the goal againts I don't recall too many good chances for Pumas.

Tough first goal to give up right before half time. Carducci put it on a platter for Lopez and Kobza just stopped defending. At least it was the Canadian with the goal against I guess. Musse with an amazing delivery on the equalizer and good on Trafford for making that run and volleying it. Tobi's goal was amazing, he has been so good and I definitely underrated him when he signed.

I thought Shome was incredible in midfield. Such an important player to this team. Herdman looks like he'll soon be too good for CPL, very aggresive in attack and good on the ball.

Wahling in at RB was a big surprise. I think if it's a CPL game then Harms gets that start, but I understand why Tommy goes for the experience in that situation.

Early days but if that team shows up in the league I think we walk it.

Shook one friend loose and we went to Kildares. Amazing atmosphere for a pub in the deep suburbs.

One guy actually showed up in a Pumas jersey lol.

It was great to see Cavalry hold their own against a Liga MX side, and obviously the result was terrific. What a goal by Toby. Anyone know what the VAR check was for? There wasn't audio at Kildares (but they said they'd have audio for the away leg).

They were checking for offside. Made for some nervous moments at the Ship

When watching live, I thought it was offside for sure.

Shome is their most important player. Such a quietly dependable guy and a joy to watch. That yellow card he took to break up the counter was such a smart play and really shows they're learning how to manage games IMO.

I really didn't mind Wahling on the whole, and actually thought he did pretty well at fullback. I wonder if that's something we could see more of to give a different look. Especially with the small CPL rosters, a guy who can play a few spots is an asset.

Kamdem I thought looked excellent and in mid-season form.

Man it is fun to be in February and talking about Cavalry.

A moment of shameless self-promotion. I've started a blog where I'll post some more detailed thoughts after games or as stuff happens during the season. I'm not any more knowledgeable than anyone here and I'm definitely not a writer. But I enjoy talking soccer and especially Cavalry and thought having a space to organize my thoughts would be nice and easier than a bunch of word dumps into CP.

Check it out if you'd like. I'm doing it for myself but if anyone wants to follow along that would be cool. Any feedback or ideas are welcome. I'm not sure how often it'll get updated or what the format looks like so if anyone wants to provide input feel free.
