Clearly not true. Russia, Belarus and Venezuela all have elections and shining beacons of democracy.

Canada has killed tens of millions of Americans. Nice touch blonde lady.
There are so many ludicrous things with the supposed fentanyl threat as being the cause for concern. Why would there not be increased funding for mental health services, have taxpayer-funded rehabilitation services, efforts to decrease the inequalities that are associated with drug abuse, safe injection sites... you know the things that actually save people's lives.

That should be how the Canadian government can call their bluff. Offer to send policy experts to the United States to work with their administration in order to save people's lives. Make a big show about drug strategies that have an upstream effect. It will obviously fall on deaf ears but it will be evidence to some of the non-lunatics in America that the tariff threats are being put in place for the express purpose of generating revenue, with a likelihood for corporate tax cuts and grifts.

Ok, so now we are getting 25% tariffs starting tomorrow, except oil is exempted until February 18th and then it will get a 10% tariff.

Look for this to change who knows how many times after I post this.

That's the thing though, there are no quantifiable metrics to Trumps demands that we can reach for this to end. What does he really want? Numbers? Even Danielle Smith doesn't know and she's been there with him.

He will keep moving the goalposts and the Canadian government should call his bluffs cause he's negotiating in bad faith

I thought it was 10% “less” on O&G, so presumably 15%?

Seems like Trump thinks they can develop a strategy to offset the effect of this, ie find more barrels in their own internal sources, by feb 18? Or does it just take that long to develop a mechanism to charge the tariff?

Remember some of the gold we got out of the last Trump press secretaries and subsequent SNL skits.

Also, my work mates were insufferable trump supporters up until these shenanigans. Now they can't break their legs walking back fast enough with "It's all out of my control" and I keep reminding them that this is your guy...Ugghhh

Don’t cut your nose off to spite your face, but if you can, always avoid buying American products where there are alternatives available.

I wonder if there are any good lists out there that have Canadian companies for products that people regularly use. I'd like to support that movement, but researching every single consumer item is time consuming and tedious for a lot of people.

Trump now saying that there's nothing that Canada or Mexico can do to avoid tariffs, and that the EU is next. What a f***ing clown show. Dude doesn't even know what a tariff is or how it works.

If there's a positive to any of this crap, it's that the rest of the world is now becoming united against the USA. If America wants to be completely isolated, self-sufficient, and cut off from the rest of the globe, then have at it. The rest of the world can hopefully work together and find ways to move forward without them.

Canada has done nothing to strengthen relationships outside of the US. Europeans were practically begging us to build the infrastructure so we can export our energy to them... and we shrugged our shoulders and continued selling it to the US at a discount because of our lack of infrastructure.

Hopefully this is the wakeup call and we form a renewed partnership with democratic countries like Japan, Korea, and the EU.

Its why I don’t think this will get far. He needs both houses, and has slim control. It will eventually become hard for him to do much of anything I believe in near future when the Republicans save their skin over his. It hasn’t happened yet because frankly polls are in Trump favor. If he brings recession in, and polls sink, he’ll get turned out quick.

Then mid terms will see him lose both to the Dems. He’ll be tied up in the courts until his time is up.

Its a plausible scenario. One I hope is soon to come.
