Maximize our assets. Yeah, it’s only a 5th but it could be used as trade capital or we use it to make a pick.

What value do you place on not disrupting Wolf this season. Any?
EDIT: I do agree if they are out of the playoff race it makes more sense to trade him. I guess I'm suggesting if they are in the race, a 5th isn't worth it.

Have to trust management that they did their background on Cooley and that’s he’s a good dude and would be as supportive of wolf as Vladar is. They had time at the start of training camp/season while Vladar was recovering.
I guess I’ve seen the team forego recouping assets for so many years that it would be nice to see them maximize assets for a change. Yeah, it’s only a 5th but it’s something and you have options with that pick.
Not saying you’re wrong and I’m right, just different ways to look at it. Agree to disagree.

If it disrupts Wolf, then no its not worth a 5th or whatever.
I just don't think that Wolf is that mentally fragile though considering what we have seen from him.

Need to consider who the third string is if we lose/trade away Vladar. Are we comfortable with Cooley and Ignatjew as our pair if Wolf got hurt? Unless you're in the tank crowd, that's an easy no.

That’s a good point. More and more often teams need to be prepared for using 3 goalies during the season.

Trading a 2nd for Kunin would be egregious by Conroy. Even moving picks and prospects for a mid like Cozens. Just stay patient and wait for the right player to come along. We can't be that desperate for a center just because we are missing one, it isn't holding us back fomr anything yet.

Well, we only win with Wolf in net, and now we're down one of our best defensive defensemen for an indeterminate amount of time... I maintain my position. We should trade one more dmen and really kick the legs out from under this thing. There's still time to take that hellevator. We can have our top 10 pick this season. There's no shame in that outcome.

Unless cozens is a cancer in locker room, I don’t see them trading him. As been pointed out the type of player they want in return probably has no trade clause to block it. They also don’t need futures .

Idk how they expect to get roster players since no one wants to be there... They're going to have to have some homegrown talent step up and then likely overpay for UFA's

No there isn't, that ship is long gone.
7 teams would have to catch and pass Calgary just to get to 10th worst.
This team is focused on the playoffs now, and they have fully earned the right to try and accomplish that.

What if you kick the legs out and finish 11th.
That would be fun wouldn't it! You completely destroy the morale of the team, miss the playoffs AND lose the pick!

Yeah, the pick is gone.
The focus should be stay patient and let the season play out but also don't be so stuck on playoffs that you don't trade an Andersson if you get the right deal.
Fill the injuries with our AHL players, and ride out the season.

Yeah, Flames need to be closer to 10th than the playoffs by the deadline to kick the legs out.

How is it an easy no? If Wolf goes down we're boned anyways, Vladar ain't carrying this team that the playoffs.

Problem is that’s what we’ve been doing since we traded nieuwy. Yeah, mony was supposed to be that guy but injuries took their toll. Not saying we trade a second for Kunin, but sitting back and being patient isn’t necessarily the best strategy either. Hope conroy is responsibly aggressive to get this piece. At some point you do have to take a calculated risk, maybe not right now but at some point. No harm in a low risk reclamation project at this stage, if one presents itself.

If you trust Seravelli's insight's on the flames you'd think they were about to add for a playoff push?
Personally I think that Seravelli doesn't have a finger on the pulse in Calgary at all.

You're contradicting yourself. If you think we already aren't in a position to be comfortable with our second and third string, why do you need me to justify why I think it's easy to say we wouldn't be comfortable with our third and fourth string?
edit: if it makes it easier for you, think about what if it's Cooley who went down and Wolf is fine. Do you want Ignatjew as the backup?

Taking a while to get to 5000

I've noticed people referencing Seravalli's interview from last week where he suggested the Flames might go out and spend a pick on a depth D. He was asked by Pat what else the Flames might do, and he had to think about it for a second. He wasn't saying this is what he'd heard they would do, just what he thought they could do and why he though that.
So for all we know (despite the recent injury to Bahl) Conroy has zero intention to do this.
Feels like much ado about nothing.

Fans who were hoping for the tank have to understand that the players have done everything in their power to prove them wrong. They have earned the right to be respected now. Conroy has to send a positive message and add some talent to the room. Does that mean he clears the cupboards of all our picks and prospects? No, it doesn't. But, you don't need a 1st, roster, and top end prospect to land players who are upgrades on Bishop, Rooney, Kerins, etc. You can upgrade the current line up without diverging from the overall goal.

Thanks for the clarification. The last week it was made out to be that Conroy is looking to add.
Also makes sense a guy like Frank would say that on Calgary radio knowing it would freak people out, myselfd included.
