Vesey and Zac Jones taking pre game warmup this am which is interesting as both have been healthy scratches. See if there are any interesting scratches this am. Might be something. Might be nothing.

Interesting proposal from the PDOcast earlier this week, Elias Pettersen for Owen Power.

Vancouver would have to add I think. That'd be a wild 1 for 1.

?

The way it was discussed was the opposite. Power has not lived up to his billing it seems, his supporters are dropping.

He's 22. I mean if the Sabers move Power for Petterson they're not really selling low or high, but it'd be surprising that there's many people writing any young player off on that Sabers roster. It's a wreck over there.

This would be a strange trade for Vancouver IMO. If they trade Petterson, I think they need to get something that at least projects to be a top 2 center. Even Cozens at least has the potential to get back on track and become one. I do think Power could be a good target for them but I think they need to have an answer to losing one of their top 2 centers. Maybe something around this:

To Vancouver: Power + Cozens
To Buffalo: Petterson + 1st round pick (top 10 protected)

Buffalo gets the best player in the trade but Vancouver is getting the potential in younger players that both play valuable positions. It’s kind of like the Hamilton for Lindholm + Hanifin trade. Not sure if the 1st round pick is too much to give up though in this case.

I don’t know if that’s a fair trade as is but definitely seems like the right idea.

Power doesn’t do anything elite
His upside is Noah Hanifin

Great! Hopefully Vancouver trades Pettersson for him then!

At 22 years old, Owen Power is almost as good as Hanifin ever was.
Power is outproducing Hanifin this year.

His upside is higher than Hanifin.

Nothing wrong at all with that....pretty good player who can play all situations.

With Hughes already in place, the Canucks don't need another "elite" guy. Just a top 2/3guy who keeps things calm in front of the net, can play PK, and still chip in offensively. (Since 20/21 he is 30th in the league for D points)

You add in Cozens and his upside and that seems like crazy good return for the 11.6M dollar buttercup. Changes the makeup of that team in a really positive way IMO.

Just dont think that Buffalo is willing to deal Cozens at this point with what they've seen happen with both Reinhart and Eichel....not to mention the cap implications something like that would have.

Cale Makar is an animal. 2 goals so far in the 1st.

Necas seems to be fitting right in so far.

Necas looked lost in his first game which is completely understandable.

2 assists for him today though and Drury has a goal as well.

That trade works out for both teams IMO if Rantanen reups with the Canes.

Yeah. He is looking really good today. Fit right in on the powerplay. Rang two 2 one timers off the inside of the the posts in the span of a few seconds. He’s also seeming to fit well with the north-south speed game the Avs play.

Ya Buffalo would definitely need to add to that. Power makes 8.35 million and he is not very good.
