I think it's all posturing at this point TBH.

Marner wants to be there, they want to keep him, both sides are acting like they don't because of negotiation.

I felt that Wolf's play and the chemistry he has with his defenders made the Sabres look worse than they were. Especially last night, it seemed like the Flames' defenders knew exactly where to be and were channeling the other team's offence into specific areas. They then had total faith in Wolf to make saves from those areas, which he did.

The Flames defenders had similar communication with Markstrom, except that Markstrom had a habit of giving up an awful goal or three to start out the game.

Thompson took a hit and was a lot less effective after that - I wonder if he was dinged up.

I wouldn't say they want to keep him for sure. There is some bad blood there between Marner's camp and the Leafs.

Would be wild for Trelviing to walk another elite playmaking winger wall for nothing but with that said he always loved to make changes to his team through free agency and I absolutely see him targeting Bennett or someone of that ilk if they let Marner go. In 2020 he replaced Brodie/Hamonic/Talbot with Tanev/Markstrom and in 22 he replaced Gio (expansion draft) with Gudbransen and Coleman.
