Sorry, disagreeing with your politics doesn't make anyone a dolt.
Saying that Conroy is running the team exactly the same way as his predecessor, who was constantly short draft picks and up against the cap… that, mister, might just make you a dolt.

Confirmation bias is a helluva of drug...
My opinion on Conroy will not change until he does something but I wouldn't like them spending anything on depth.

Huh, color me shocked that someone would try to pass off bigotry as a political opinion. You fit right in these days eh!
You also critically misunderstand my point. Not the Conroy is operating identically to Treliving, rather that ultimately the intention and goal of the club has remained unchanged beyond gms (and extending long before Treliving) and it is this intention and goal which has us permanently mired in the mushy middle.

He's wrong. They are actually quite good for a 3rd pairing.

I heard there is much harder schedule is coming after the break. So I'm sure the management is just waiting where will be this team before deadline.
And I think the team will be out of playoff spot by 6 or more points at deadline, so I hope they continue trade players if the return is good.

Is trading for depth a direction CGY fans want? No.
Is such a trade going to impact the future of the franchise in any significant way? Probably not.
So why get upset/outraged by a trade that might or might not happen, one fans have absolutely zero control over, and we don't even know what it might cost?
At the end of the day you either trust the decision making of the professionals running the team, or you wait for them to get canned.

You should definitely double down on the stupidity you were spouting. Absolute nonsense. I am amazed you would ever show your face again around here.

I agree- and I think i've been replying/ talking about this so long now that my posts feel more upset or outraged than I truly am. I guess I just feel kind of alone in noticing the cracks forming around Conroy's image. And perhaps that's unkind of me, or makes me a bad fan, but I am not sure I trust the current management. I am not sure any management would make a difference while we're under the thumb of this owner.

Actually you'd find me saying the same thing a few weeks ago if you want to do the search.
Some of us don't react emotionally to every click hawk that makes a comment on local radio.
The sad thing is most of us agree on the topic, but the degree of close mindedness varies from poster to poster.
We all want to build for the future.
We all want to hold on to futures.
We all want to get younger.
We'd all prefer a bottom five finish (or 10 and avoid the Montreal pick complication).
But some of us aren't panicking over a team that has done well despite the team not giving them much help in the off season.
And some of us won't see it as a massive divergence from a pretty solid plan if they reward this team with a limited asset help for what they've accomplished ... if they get that far ... and it makes sense.

I don't mind trading a 4th round pick or later for a depth player
But just please keep all picks in the first 3 rounds and make them. Even with 2 late first rounders, we can get (maybe) get a player like Zary or Pelletier that can help the team in 3-5 years. Perfect timing for when the new building opens

We got one of our franchise's best ever players in round 4, our current roster best player is from round 6, and arguably our best forward prospect was from round 5 last year. I believe we need to keep all our picks until our franchise is built way differently than it currently is.

It’s not the owners fault that Huby/Kadri is starting to produce and lead the team, that their 7th round Goalie stud is actually performing in his rookie year in the show like he did in every other league, that Zary, Pospisil, Coronato, Wolf, Pelletier and Pachal have all become full timers, all contributing to the Flames finding themselves in a playoff position with games in hand on the teams just behind them. Enjoy it… it’s not even like all the graduates talent has left our cupboards bleak… just looking at the 10 draft picks from last year, even the ones that aren’t part of the ‘big 5’ group of picks are have stellar years. There is so much to be excited about that the unfortunate likelihood of losing a 12-22 pick is going to happen is a tough pill to swallow for sure but certainly not worth all the consternation you are asserting towards the issue. Best case scenario is the Flames hold their position and sneak in via the wild card spot, who cares at this point about stupid BT’s terrible Monahan trade, it is what it is, we all as fans know is some hot garbage but the team is performing, our prospects base is blooming and the future is incredibly exciting for the team with the new arena on the horizon and a ton of potential and talent brewing as well. Allow yourself to enjoy this team!!

Putting that type of constraint on a GM would be damaging. Draft picks are capital. They can be used to draft players, they can be used to acquire players. The key is how much value the org places on those picks. Historically I would agree that the franchise hasn't placed ENOUGH value on picks. That seems to have shifted under Conroy.
But that doesn't mean he shouldn't be allowed to use a pick to trade for a player if he thinks that is the right thing.
Saying you need to keep ALL your picks, is just far too limiting.

Again, I would agree, outside of our current roster construction. We need more bullets in the chamber if we aren't going to tank and ensure a nicer target for us to shoot at. If we're always going to be riding the mid draft, then we need as many shots as possible to hit a star player, or we will be here forever.
IMO this is a consequence of the longterm strategy of the team to always squeak into the playoffs and see what happens.

Every NHL GM is going to move picks, drafting alone is not going to be only avenue to build this team...
They are going to have to make trades, sign players and draft etc

That is the issue. You are 'seeing' cracks that aren't there yet. You have basically reached flat earther level of denials because you don't like Edwards.
The evidence so far has been rebuild. 20 million of cap space, not replacing a top 6 center or two top four dmen, and trading a starting goaltender.
If Conroy goes and spends futures on players and signs a bunch of UFAs this offseason then you will have a leg to stand on.
