The A-League uses traditional promotion/relegation, correct?

There is no promotion/relegation with the A-League. They have it at the state levels though. Similar to what was just implemented in League1 Ontario and I think coming to Quebec this year.

There mere fact this friendly happened means that stuff is going on. The club is active; not stagnant and looking to improve.

Happy to see this. Would be neat if they could get some friendlies against Mexican competition too.

Cavalry are on evacuation alert due to a nearby fire. Have heard today's friendly against the Crew was cancelled but haven't seen any news online related to the friendly, which is not as important as their safety.

Hopefully they stay safe.

When is the CPL schedule usually released? I’m going to be in Halifax in June so won’t mind catching a game there, but wanting to see if I should book my tickets now or hold off on it

Soon, I hope. The last 3 years were January 23, January 30, and February 3 (or thereabouts).

Training camp update. Cavalry have resumed training today in San Diego. They will be back in Calgary on Wednesday.

Clearly the white sash is back, on the left shoulder. Green trim on the arms remains.
My guess some gold elements for the championship.

In former Cavs news, Victor Loturi has signed on a free transfer to CF Montreal. 2 year contract with options for 2027 and 2028

Good for Victor. Shame he really fell off this year and couldn't get minutes for a relegation threatened side. Hopefully he'll kick on at Montreal

I think it's a great move for him. Montreal's recent MO is to sign promising young players cast aside by other clubs, give them minutes and move them on to better leagues. Piette is getting on in years and Saliba is rumoured to be going to Europe so there could be a big opportunity in front of him.

Gets out of the fishlens of being a footballer in rural Scotland and away from abuse every time he makes a mistake. Likely earns far more money in MLS as well.

Yeah it could get him back on the fringes of the National Team picture if he does well and wins a starting spot (probably beating out Piette to claim a starting spot)

I'm hoping Saliba will get to Europe. I think he could be a mainstay for Canada by 2026 but he needs to go up a level and get minutes. I think he's a much steadier/consistent/more polished player than Kone (though their games aren't quite the same)

The design would have been finalized way before we won the North Star Cup. I do believe that there may be some gold colour, but it would be for SM's 50th anniversary. There may also be a gold patch with the number 1 on the back of the neck for our championship last fall.

I don't follow the Cavs closely, but keep half an eye on them, and it seems like they've not replaced Klomp and are a bit weaker than last year? Any rumors that they might still add a player or two - would have been nice to see them strengthen and try to repeat!
