Not sure which part of that area Douglas Glen is in, but it's rights at Deerfoot and 24th interchange. Head north towards the McDonalds, Tmmies and all that. It's in that general area.

Thanks

Ah, not my area so I';ve just always called all of it Douglasdale, haha. Same with most of those communities down there. McKenzie for me encompasses waaaay more than the city definitions or people that live there can even comprehend.

How has Francas pizza beside Glenmore resevouir (same complex as Point and Feather pub on southland) not made it onto here?!
Huge reviews on google and it did not disappoint. Anyone in the southwest of Calgary should try this out. Every ingredient is complete quality and has the Dave Portnoy/New York/New Jersey style. It was absolutely fantastic and just moved into number two for me in Calgary behind Pizza culture.
Wow were we impressed in our group. And as a bonus I always love a passionate owner in a new shop that just oozes excitement and confidence in his pizza. He seemed so genuinely happy and grateful we were there to try it out, but at the same time completely confident we'd be happy with it.
Everyone should give this a try at least once even if you're not close. Wonderful dough texture and crispiness as well, which is usually the first **** up at most pizza places.

I tried it last year and thought it was ok, maybe I need to try again. Thought it was decent but wasn't blown away

I will have to try it. The family that owns it has a fantastic restaraunt on Edmonton trail.

Oakridge Pizza used to be very good in that mall (greek style).

Yeah, this was my thought, too. I feel like I can make the exact same thing in my Ooni at home, and that's not some kind of humble brag.

But to be quite frank, they are too light. I crave a thick pizza with descentely thick bread, lots of sauce and toppings, and lots of cheese fairly often. I don't want all my pizza to be like a pita or flatbread with sauce. Greek pizza will often hit that spot.

I wish we had more Detroit style pizza joints. The owner of POW sucked but their pizza was great.

Pow was great, albeit overpriced. Being able to walk there was a huge bonus.
When they first opened you had to get your order in super early or you were waiting forever, and I mean hours.

Connie & Johns is probably the best there is in the city now. There is another place in town doing Detroit style it’s not as good.

The pizza place it replaced in that location had multiple health violations for cockroaches. Which hurt its reputation in the community and has probably carried through to Francas.
I tried it a few months ago and thought it was decent. Not as good as Double Zero, which is our thin-crust pizza of choice. I find that style of pizza does not travel well, so we prefer to get it in a sit-down restaurant rather than takeout or delivery (which is all Francas offers).

Which is disappointing because Connie & John has gone downhill significantly. In particular, their new-ish location in University District is pretty awful.

Hmm. I haven’t tried that location. Is the East Village still good?

Came into the thread to say this exact thing. There was a Red Top pizza in the south, Legacy or Cranston I think.
It was awesome for Detroit style. I went to go order last night and it looks like it was closed. A donair place too it's spot.
