I struggled immensely to stop eating because it was tasty. ended up leaving 1.5 pieces very reluctantly. usually on a 10-12" pizza I'll leave half these days.
Full disclosure though, New York is my style. I'm so happy TSXCman posted this.

Going through this thread...you like pizza more than the poster literally named Pizza.
I am impressed.
Alright, Sinatra's. I'll give it a whirl. If you recommend it then I'm guessing its pretty good. Whats your favourite?
I love pizza, and I'm not picky, I like Chicago, regular, New York...I even like the flatbread ones from time to time, depends on what I'm in the mood for, I'm just not huge on 'Artisanal' pizzas. I like them simple, so you can really taste the ingredients not just pile it all on!
Or make it super fancy..."ve flew in zis kale from ze swiss alps, you can really taste ze ricola!"
Yeah. I dont care.

As much as I talk about and ask for recommendations on pizza, I actually don't get to as many as I'd like. In your area I'm sure you've tried Estoria by the enterprise rental car on 24th? If not that is a really fantastic greek style pizza with quality ingredients.

Sinatras is a few blocks away. Liked it the first few times but noticed it would taste a little burnt (is that New York style). It’s got a bit of that cheese that turns yellow when melted thing going too.
Also they sprinkle Italian seasoning of some sort before popping in the oven so you get a slight burnt oregano flake flavour. Ask them to not put the dry seasoning on and it’s better.

If anyone knows of one, I'm still looking for a place that does a good NY slice. Not the ones trying to replicate the fancier coal/brick fired NY pizza places (Grimaldi's, Johns etc.)...but the thin slices with just cheese. That's the one I really miss. Well that and a grandma slice.

What did you think of Sinatras? You obviously know that little strip mall so I assume you’ve had it.

I've only had it once when it first opened, and honestly don't remember what I thought at the time. Considering how much people rave about it here, I'll have to go back and try.
Going by the photos, it's not quite the NY slice I'm looking for in my above post, but of course that doesn't mean it's not tasty.

Looks good too, but not quite what not quite what I'm after. The classic NY slice I'm looking for is much thinner, kinda greasy, and with just cheese. Those look a little too thick/complicated.
I may try to make one at home. This guy has been on a quest to make his own, and looks pretty on point.

Had Chicago deep dish pizza in Chicago for the first time. While it was pretty yummy I don't think it's something I'd seek out when wanting a pizza.

Yeah, authentic Chicago deep dish is more of an event, not a routine. Something nice you have once or twice a year, and it's more than enough. It's partly why I prefer Detroit style.
I'd still love to have more (or any?) options here for a good Chicago deep dish though.

I know the owner of Pronto Pizza - Bruno. Used to get his pizza often when I worked by the one on 5th.

That easily jumped to number two on my list of pizzas in Calgary behind Noble Pie. And honestly I'll probably go here more because you don't have that hassle of Noble Pie being right downtown and needing to wait to get in because they keep short hours and limited days to add artificial scarcity.

Just to pump Sinatra's a bit. I've been there 3 times total. 2 of the 3 times, it was late and I was trying to decide between 2 types of slices and both times, she scooped one of each and charged for a single.
Easy to support good quality NY style and very generous ownership.

Yeah, eventually would be nice if they added a smaller option if you're just grabbing a pizza for yourself. 10" would be perfect.
