Not a single person has suggested dealing Wolf. It’s just a few crybabies who want thanks from Burning Beard and can’t stand a rebuild. They want to Sutter this up.

They want to go out and get retirement contracts. Some even want us to come back an expansion team because Vegas !!!

They're playing him down the lineup and mostly out of position, doubt he's available but if he was Conny should send his left nut for him.

I don't know, I think TB might want his right one instead.

Geekie is the type of player the Flames need.

Awesome.

I assume Matt, Jakob and Connor?

What are everyone’s guesses for term and AAV

Wolf is signed for one year beyond this one at a bargain basement rate. So no extension for him for about another year. Still I'm sure he will be prioritized to sign long term after next years roster is set.

I would bet that in 2 seasons, the roster will look drastically different to the one now. How many players will still be here?

Wolf, Zary, Weegar, Coronato - I think these are 'guarantees'.

Huberdeau is very likely given his contract. Would be surprised if Bahl isn't here.

Who else is here for sure? I don't know. I think there is a possibility that everyone else MAY be gone through UFA or trades. I think it is likely to see as much (if not more) roster turnover as we have seen from 2 seasons ago. This is a retool/rebuild/youth movement.

I did think that there may be some foreshadowing going on when Conroy said that he wants to see more of the AHL kids in the lineup for the second half of the season. That's not a statement that is made when a team is going for the playoffs. Also, there are a lot of bodies on the team... either he has plans on trading some guys out to make some room, or he has Shane Stant already looking for a dark corner of a hallway at the Dome.

This back-half of the season is going to be super interesting. Will Conroy stick to his guns - which appeared to be a rebuild - but with the surprise success of the team, will it continue this season? Andersson? Where do the Flames end up? Will Huberdeau continue his pace? Will Wolf falter under a tougher schedule? Many more points of interest on this season aside from winning and losing. It has been an enjoyable first half - much more so than I anticipated.

The flames currently have around $18 million in cap space:

Cap floor: $65 million
Flames total salary: $71 million
Cap limit: $88 million

There is some speculation that the cap could go up by $9 million next year. Putting it to $97 million.

If the flames don’t sign any new players, their total cap hit currently committed to next year is $53 million. That’s without accounting for re-signing of the upcoming summer UFAs or RFAs.

So let’s assume Zary and Coronato each sign for $7 million AAV this summer. Let’s assume Bahl signs for $4 million AAV. That puts the flames at $71 million.

The following are UFAs this summer: Kuzmenko, Mantha, Rooney, Duehr, Kirkland, Barrie, Hanley and Vladar. Of those players, the only ones that I think may be re-signed are Kirkland, Hanley and Duehr with Kirkland probably the best bet. Hanley has looked good recently but the team has so many good young defencemen that I hope they want to make room for them. Duehr still hasn’t taken a roster spot for himself. For now, let’s assume all 3 get resigned for say $850,000 AAV each. Pelletier is an RFA as well so let’s assume he also signs for the same amount. That puts the total salary at about $74 million in 2025-2026. The team would look a lot like it does right now:

Huberdeau-Kadri-Posposil
Sharangovich-Zary-Pelletier
Coleman-Backlund-Coronato
Lomberg-xxxx-Kirkland
Duehr

Weegar-Hanley
Andersson-Bahl
Bean-Pachal
Miromanov

Wolf
Cooley

Right now, that’s a real possibility for the roster next year. I don’t see many opportunities for more young players on that roster next year when it’s healthy though. I guess you could argue that injuries will happen. I could also realistically see Conroy choosing to not re-sign Duehr and Hanley. That would at least open up an opportunity for Klapka or Stromgren at forward. And it opens up an opportunity for one of the many solid young defencemen to take Hanley’s spot.

The following summer (2026), the UFAs will be Backlund, Lomberg, Andersson and Bean.

Adding him to a core or Hanley Pachal Bahl Sharangovich Duber should really push us over the top. Wait Coronato as well.

Left out Zary because hes 100% going the other way.

We should look at extending Kuzmenko at this point. They had cHeMisTry.
lol you are being a clown now. Anyone not on the unrealistic throw games band wagon "doesn't know hockey"

He will be a good to very good NHL center for the next decade. Its such an unlikely trade its hardly worth the debate but IF they are actually dumb enough to move him ANY team would be dumb not to kick some tires. Nobody is suggesting the Flames give up the top 5 pick or prospect they don't have. Its a late first, a decent prospect, and maybe a current roster player.

Petey is 3 years older than Zar/Wolfy, 2 years older than Bahl, all guys you want signed to long term contracts immediately.

Have an opinion...enough for the "don't know hockey" garbage.

I mean the guy said they Pettersson was a product of playing with stud wingers like Kuzmenko and Beauvillier and that he has not proven he he an elite number one center and may be more like a Lindholm and be a product of those stud wingers. So if those guys are star wingers maybe most of the hockey following world “does not understand hockey”

Maybe we can take him in Aaron’s expansion draft!!!

Dino says we can have him for a late 1st. Love how you speak in absolutes. If he can be had that cheap surely Vancouver won’t protect him in the expansion draft.

If you don’t think Pettersson is a now trade your a beyond help sorry.

It would be one of the dumbest moves ever if the Flames traded for Peterrsson, so I'm not even going to discuss that.

This is the Flames guys, we already know what happens. We finish 9th in the west and the Panthers go on another cup run to sewer our pick. We all know it's happening lol.

It’s not a dumb move. The rebuild is over after 41 games. Time to go all in.

Royale just told us that the Canucks want a big return but apparently Dino is part of the negotiations and thinks Rooney the Devils 1st and maybe Stromgren get it done.

Just a few a months ago he was crapping all over Patterson but now he wants Petey because he can’t stomach a rebuild. Or another guy who hates rebuilds and is another thread whining that people can’t stand wins and wants to turn around and trade the players who contribute to the wins.

A team that is trending to miss the playoffs and 41 games into a rebuild should be pushing in their chips and assets. They must miss the Sutter way of GMing

I wouldn’t be surprised if Miromanov isn’t moved somewhere.

Looking at your roster my guesses would be Hanley and Miromanov are swapped for AHL players. Discussions are had around Sharangovich if his second half doesn’t improve. Although I have no idea what you would do with him. Wouldn’t be totally surprised if Vladar was back on a short contract.
