I probably would.
I struggle to see Pelletier's utility. So far, he looks to be an undersized grinder with locker room intangibles.

So essentially a 3rd plus Pelletier for Pinto? As much as I like Pelts I would do that deal

Pinto is exactly what Conny is looking for. I suppose if Vlad and Pelts gets him his guy it's a good deal.
Think they could do better than Pinto though.

Does Ottawa have some hot shot 2/3LC waiting in the minors that they can offload Pinto for a couple of wingers?
Daily Faceoff shows Pinto as 1C there. What am I missing?

Seems like Pinto is tracking to be a 3rd line C? A right shot 40 point C for Vladar is pretty good.

I'd suggest it has about as much chance of happening as Tanev for Bourque did last spring like some folks here were thinking.
A goalie, a backup at that, on an expiring deal for a young C?
With 2 more years left on his deal?

Because we are desperate for a center and will take anyone apparently.
Conroy said if Zary can transition to C that it would likely change how the view things.
In that interview that Inferno posted, he said things like focus on the long term, the right player, doing things the right way, being patient and the player likely coming from the draft.
If someone wants to give us a right shot 40 point C for a backup goalie sure. But I don't think Conroy is as desperate to get someone as some make it seem.

He wants the hardest asset in the league to trade for and would be dumb not to take a shot if they become available

Professional athletes are as competitive as humans come, which leads to feelings boiling over at the workplace from time to time. It can be a fun discussion occasionally, but IMO it's wishful thinking more often than not. It's done mostly in order to justify winning a trade/moving from a core piece to a fanbase.

Miller is doing it in the open. You don't embarrass grown men like that in front of everyone.

I would add to PW's comment that each of the things you listed was a one-off event. Guys are going to clash once in a while, which is not a problem and not unexpected.
The difference with Miller is that it is a pattern, and it sometimes gets taken too far, and, as PW said, it is being done, or getting pulled into, the public domain.

I would but I doubt they would.
My guess is they would want something like:
Vladar (50% retained) + 2nd (COL) for Pinto
That would save them a a couple million in cap space and gives them another asset to use to try to add another piece with the cap space they created by moving Pinto. (Flip that 2nd for a d-man for example)
TBH I think that would be a pretty fair trade for both sides. Pinto is struggling a bit with 10 points in 30 games and both sides have hinted at a change of scenery.
Sens get a goalie to help them while Ullmark is injured. They also get a 2nd round pick and $2.5M of cap space that they can use to bring in an asset to help them make the playoffs (d-man).

Wouldn’t Ottawa be asking for someone like Brzustewicz? Or Mews? Just so they have a RHD with promise in the pipeline.

Came across an interesting article about NHL Execs evaluating Conroy:
Quote:
It feels like their drafting is better recently. Taking lots of what we call the point-getter class. There were a couple guys they drafted in 24 that we had character concerns with, so we will see how those turn out.
|
Quote:
The Suniev selection looks really good from 2023. Zarubin was our top-rated goalie last year, as I recall, so that was a good selection there. We didn’t love that Mews kid, but he’s looking really good now. Looks like they’ve taken a big step on the drafting side of things. I was impressed with their 2024 lot.
|
Quote:
I would continue trading guys out and rebuilding the roster, but that would piss off the veterans that stay. If they don’t do that, however, they aren’t going to be a good team, ever. That’s not a position I’d want to be in right now. There are a few organizations that seem to be stuck like that.

Which 2024 picks are thought to have issues? I haven't heard anything about the guys the Flames picked. Maybe Gridin?

Flames made a lot of picks last year.
I'd put Parekh on the top of the list as a person scouts wouldn't exactly love with his manner and demeanor. IMO, Parekh with his stat line should have gone top 5 in that draft, so in my.mind he fell into Calgary's lap.
After that, no idea. Rather disingenuous to immediately assume the only Russian they drafted was the character issue for other teams.
Could be a reason why the likes of Basha or Mews or Misa fell the way they did. Who knows.
