You can't "grab him for the Wranglers". If you put in a claim, you have to keep him in the NHL or put him back on waivers, at which point, the Kings would likely reclaim him and send him down anyway (I know that doesn't always happen, but it almost-always happens).
If he clears, they could try to trade for him, but just because the Kings waived him doesn't mean they want to get rid of him.

In the off chance Vegas waives Cole Schwindt, I'd rather the Flames claimed him. That would fill a more pressing need, IMO.

He was scratched in December for a few games. Then got back in because of injuries to Barbashev and Roy. And he’s not been good.
