I took a lot of Lada taxis in Cuba...its neat being in those old Soviet cars from the 60s and 70s. They're still chugging.

But have you had the Yorx professionally cleaned annually? It should last just as long as a Sony if well taken care of.

I don’t know if Lincolns last that long, it just seems like it since they notoriously outlive their owners.

Did you read anything I said? Do I come off as the type of guy who actually buys $2k phones? I just used that as an example from friends of mine, true stories too.

I find it hard to believe a phone in a case had it's screen shattered by a simple fall onto a carpet. Details are missing here. Was this off a ladder onto office grade carpet laid directly on concrete?

I don't recall saying shattered but his cracked. I haven't seen it and perhaps he's lying about how it happened. I talked him out of buying another $2k phone cause he is the type of guy who's sold on nonsense daily. He is exactly the type of consumer that get's railroaded daily.

So tell us the story. The “buy quality! but not me for reasons #landlord” stuff is boring. We want to know how your friend broke one of the most expensive phones you can guy by dropping it (in a case) on a carpet.
What kind of phone? Case? Carpet? So many questions. Don’t skimp details.

He was going to replace a $2000 phone because of a cracked screen!? Maybe you should have talked him into just getting the screen replaced. Sounds more economical.

When you're watching a 'Crime Procedural' show and the primary character goes into a crime scene and holds the latex gloves in their hands, folded up, as they handle evidence.
They're gloves FFS! They are designed to fit upon your hands! Just put them on! Stop being a clown! Wear the gloves! Become the gloves! Love the gloves!

Counterpoint. Putting on gloves suck, and it makes the character seem more important if they do it casually but carefully. Then they can hand it off to the lowly tech to bag and tag, so they have more time for important thinking things.

Still really want to know if Curves friend really chipped their $2000 phone from a fall onto carpet and then convinced them to buy a new (albeit not $2000 phone) instead of just replacing the screen.

I'm really done with one particular movie / TV trope: a defenseless protagonist is being pursued by a bad guy with a gun, the tension is building and the music gets really dramatic, it comes to the climactic moment and the bad guy finally has them cornered and raises their gun. The camera cuts away and we hear a loud gunshot, BANG! Oh no, the bad guy got them! Oh wait! We cut back, and it was actually a gunshot from another character off camera, who shot the bad guy just in the nick of time!
STOP WITH THIS MOVIE / TV PEOPLE.

I do agree this is way overdone. There's little suspense because you know if they cut back and you only hear the gunshot, it's because the bad guy is the one taking the fatal bullet.

You clearly didn't pay much attention my posts from the other day. I am not the type of person advocating for people to burn through cash as so many people do. I am about responsible, pragmatic, cost effective decisions. Buying a $2k phone is absurd to me, buying another $2k phone cause you think you need a new phone cause of a cracked screen is also beyond absurd. When my buddy get's anxiety about his financial situation, I tell him straight up. Knock off the BS and getting dummied from every company and every business. He actually listened
