Yeah, the roster selection is one thing, but just some baffling choices made by the coaching staff. Like, non-defensible baffling. And the "excuses" for these choices are even worse.

Just 8 months ago McKenna and Martone put up 20 and 17 points while leading Canada to gold at the U18s. How in the hell the coaches didn't try to recapture that magical chemistry ill never know

I beat this one to death I feel but I'm with you.

Cameron claimed he TRIED EVERYTHING, the players just couldn't get it done they were too tired.

In the absence of Russia they really should have had a 'Canada B.'

They left 3rd overall Sennecke at home, 6th overall Iginla, 7th Yakemchuk, 9th Perekh. What makes you think Lindstrom would have been in the running at all even if healthy.

people don't forget, it just doesn't matter which NHLers would technically be eligible. People are pissed because they had stellar options available to them and didn't choose them, that's all that matters.

I think Nelson put it perfectly here:

and that's it. It shouldn't be rocket science ... just pick the best players available and figure it out. Instead they got cute and got what they deserved.

This truly pissed me off!
Too tired? They are playing at home for god sake. What about those kids that have to travel across the ocean? Are they not tired? The Latvia kids played with bundle of hearts!

Cameron would play him on the 4th line, if he even dresses.

Would any other countries fall in that category? Betting the US, Sweden and Finland.

At one point in the game they zoomed into Steve Yzerman and Ken Holland and they looked disgusted with what they were watching. Neither of these guys are perfect (especially since one was with the the oilers) but they have had success at different levels. I’m sure they were part of the group that was baffled as to why practice had been cancelled and some of the other questionable decisions.

A quarter of the people on this board could have picked a better team and by the looks of it even coached it better.

Cameron by all accounts was horrendous. Easily the worst “high level” coach I have ever seen and based on quotes from himself. Ridiculous this guy coached the team let alone was in the running for it. Might as well just assign player coaches next year and maybe things will go better.

If you aren’t going to coach, why are you there?

Fall into what category? You think any of those nations have Bedard AND Celebrini level players that didn't go to this tourney because they are in the NHL right now?

Add Sam Consetino to the list of hockey minds just absolutely baffled by the coaching, the player utilization etc.

Re-iterated that Parekh is the best PP QB in the CHL and should have absolutely been on the team if even as a PP guy only and then work his way into top 4 like Ryan Ellis did in 2006. Said that Zaynes coach was an assistant on team Canada and was the only vote to get him on the team.

Cameron likely done and expects more heads to fall, said this isn’t just a “oh well, we’ll get em next year” situation, said change is needed up top at hockey Canada.

Will Smith for the USA, but I wouldn’t put him on the same level, but hes likely a future top liner or very good top 6 player.

edit - Thanks Paulie.
