People are going to have to realize pretty quick here that this team isn’t getting much worse than it is, so it might be worth figuring out how to get better without that step.

Great. Then we would have two players making $23M combining for about 120 points every year. Jesus... Pettersson would be worse than Huby trying to play this system and seeing how the majority of the board seems to be happy with non creative perimeter offence geared around staying back this would be a disaster. No.

For sure, we likely will have to do that, but I don't see how that leads to anything resembling a contender. Good news is I'm a Flames fan and conditioned to enjoying the games without the threat of being near the top most years.

Huska would have Pettersson purring like a finely tuned Ferrari. I would have no concerns myself.

Just like Huberdeau? Just like he has our offence finely tuned to be worse than Chicago, Anaheim, and San Jose? Get real.

Huska isn’t a top coach. Beating the offence and skill out of players isn’t a special trait.

He has the team in a playoff spot nearly half-way through the season. With the 2nd lowest cap hit in the league. By your logic, if he's as bad as you say or think, then the Flames team as constructed now would be firmly in a top 3 Pacific spot with a good coach, right? So the team is even further from a bottom feeder but being held back by poor coaching? That's your take?

I credit Wolf with our playoff spot currently, not to say others haven't stepped up etc but without his performance most nights we'd be no where even close.
He's saving at least 2+ goals per game that would normally go in.
Incredible, cant believe how well he's turned out.
Thankfully some goalie luck on our side!

The Flames have more goals per game than all 3 of those teams you mentioned.
He has taken a guy like Huberdeau who has a career high of 30 goals and has him on pace for 36 goals this year
Has Kadri whose career high is 32 goals on pace for 31 goals this year.
Has Coleman whose career high for goals before Huska came along was 22 goals in a season on pace for 18 goals this season.
This might shock you but when a coach has most of his top players on pace for career highs in goals and the team does not score many overall it might be because the team does not have any offensive talent, not because the coach who is coaching them in the seasons where they are on pace to match or break career highs in goals is holding them back.

With a system geared toward taking advantage of the teams skill players and getting the goaltending they are they would firmly be in a top 3 spot in the Pacific. Tell me this, do you think our forward group is worse than the Hawks and the Sharks?

Umm, no they don't. Do you actually do research before you post?

The way you get goals per game is you take the goals and divide them by the games played. When you go to this website NHL.com is shows that the Flames score more goals per game than the 3 clubs you listed.

You think goals a game are more important than goals scored? Hahaha. Tell me, where are the Flames ranked for 5 on 5 goals?

Of course goals per game are more important to normalize for games played

So many posters are addicted to sucking on this forum it's hilarious. It showed the year Sutter came back and won coach of the year, half the posters in this thread were nowhere to be found. Huska is the perfect coach for them, enjoy wallowing in your misery. I am going to not even talk about coaching anymore. Pointless. It's fantastic we can't score more then 3 goals a game and we are sure to be heading for great things using such an effective style of play!

Diss, are you alright? Genuine question.
I personally think the Flames score 3 goals or less most games because they are devoid of offensive talent. They have zero game breakers.
