Hard pass on Petterson. Not the type of player you want to build around.
Would rather keep the picks and prospects.

What do you mean? There's already an asking price by Conroy that GM's are mulling over, he's available. What would the Jets and Stars be waiting for that other teams aren't?

From the intel I've been told Calgary is not Vancouver's preference of partner if they deal Petty but the GM's have history.

I was previously told that this did not sit well with ownership after the fact.
They were not keen on making the move, but felt it was their shot to make a run last year.
Looking back (yea easy to say now) they would have never pulled the trigger.

The comments about Pettersson shutting down when a teammate is hard on him with feedback isn't something I'm crazy about for a player the Flames would need to be amongst their leadership group who will need to be able to handle feedback that may happen to be negative...

I’d avoid Pettersson big time. Seems like a huge mistake to give up our cap space picks and prospects to get a guy who will inevitably float around 80% of the remainder of his contract.

Such is the case with the vast, vast, vast majority of acquisitions at the deadline.
I really hope Conroy just stays out of that market as a buyer. Stay on the hunt for the next Eichel/Stone deal, but never pay premium prices for mid-tier talent.

The trade was well before the deadline. It’s how Conory got them to increase the offer.

Sorry, 'rental market', but more importantly - avoid paying premium prices for that tier of player, regardless of contract status.

Absolutely no interest in Pettersson. Not at the price it would cost (because we're in the same division), his cap hit, and how soft he is as a player.
He is not the guy you go out and shoot your wad on.

depends on the wad...I bet if they trade him they regret it. That skillset is not one easily found

He would not look good playing Flames hockey.
The Flames need a #1C - the right kind of #1C. Pettersson isn't it. I mean sure, if the Nucks are stupid enough to give him away cheap to a division rival, then you take him. But that isn't happening - especially after they overpaid for Lindholm last year, they aren't giving Pettersson to the Flames unless they get back significantly more than they gave us for EL

Unless it’s for players 22 and under, I say keep those draft picks and stay the course! Especially with how good the 2026 and 2027 drafts look.
