He says "ok, let's ride" here, so clearly we're bringing Kylington home.

Sportsnet: You do have an out on that contract because Pettersson’s trade protection doesn’t start until next season. But is moving your 26-year-old star actually possible?

Allvin (smiling): Well, you know Jim's history.

We want to build a team that sets us up for long-term success. Building around the long-term deals with Miller and Petey, having Quinn and Demko locked up, Filip Hronek and Jake DeBrusk, I mean, those are big pieces. Petey has shown up to this point that he is an extremely talented, quality player that could and should be a No. 1 centre. I believe in him. I believe that he's capable. (But) he needs to mature and understand that there are certain expectations and it does not get easier. And you need to face the music when things don't go well. Is it (a trade) possible? I guess I would say anything is possible.

That seems crazy to me.

“I guess I would say anything is possible.”

Way to really introduce instability into your team.

Flames would be interested in Pettersson if he could be had I would think? 26 and signed for 7 more years they have a lot of cap space and a decent amount of futures to put in a deal. There is a history between the GM’s making trades. Flames have a huge need for a center but I am not sure they have what the Canucks would want?

If I was running the Canucks I too would pick JT Miller over Pettersson.

Acquisition cost would be prohibitive i think. Even though he may be on the market, I suspect the Canucks are going to demand a very high price. The Flames simply don't have the assets.

I tend to agree as it would seem the Canucks would want to do more of a hockey trade vs the futures and cap space based package the Flames could offer. Flames would likely need to put Weegar on the table for the Canucks to really have interest but I don’t see Conroy wanting to part with Weegs

Huby for Pettersson.

Maybe throw in a 2nd and Pospisil.

Give them everything back, that the Flames got in the Lindholm trade.

Don't they? 2x 1st round picks should be enough. Especially since there's going to be zero cap retention. Do they want the cap flex or do they need a player in return as well ?

I'm sure Petterson will go somewhere. I just disagree that the Flames don't have the assets. They do. We just won't like them using those assets for a 26 year old wispy center.

I've been told this isn't the case, Calgary has 5 First Round Picks over the next 3 years. Calgary has some interesting prospects as well.

Also to note an eastern source said "Calgary has draft capital, interesting prospects and but they've got cap, Buffalo, New York and Vancouver all very active right now, the hunting grounds are open...Conroy's building his own arena"

Market is building for Andersson but the price is extremely high still as previously shared. a few Central division teams keeping a close eye on this one.

I imagine Eichel is a pretty good comparison for a Petterson deal, unless they manage some crazy 1 for 1 hockey deal.

From the flames perspective, I imagine it would start with zary and include ++.

Zary + 1st + Morin.

Doesn't seem like a great fit for us.

I could see alot of teams being interested though.

Have to think that the Jets and Stars are just waiting for Conroy to say he is available.

He’s not a fit for us and our timeline. We need our picks and prospects you can’t gut our base when we just started to build it.
