I watched some videos on the new Lucid Gravity yesterday and that is a sweet EV with very good range for an SUV (roughly 450 miles.) The major issue is that at a price of around $110,000USD with the options I would be interested in it is way outside my price range. The videos were pre-production vehicles so there is probably refinements to the final vehicles but with the third row folded there is a big gap between the load floor and the back of the second row seats. Anything that has a potential to shift or roll around back there will end up going into that gap.

450 miles is excellent. SS batteries should allow for the magical 600 miles. At that point gas is dead.

I think ranges will end up going down as costs do. Most people are paying ten thousand dollars for heavy batteries that make a twice a year trip slightly more convenient.

At first, range seems to be king. Once a few trips are under your belt, you realize that charging speed is where it's at. Thought experiment: if you can charge 20 to 80% in 20 minutes, but the range is 400km, would that outweigh a 45 minute 20 to 80% with a 650km range and an extra 25k on the purchase price?

Charging speed is more crucial but only with a robust, dense and capable charging network. It doesn't matter how quick the vehicle can charge if you can only find a 50 or 150kw charger.

Well we're already at 500km. And it's not all that pricey. Also cold weather driving really reduces range.

Saw some reviews on the VW ID Buzz. Seems like they really undersized the battery in that for the kind of road trip vehicle it seems intended to be.

As an aside, I’m super happy with our Rav4 Prime. The only thing that caught me off guard was the cabin temperature when the temp outside is below -10 or whatever, it will never get warm if only in EV mode. I guess just a bit of a shock coming from an ICE where it just warmed up.

My buddy in Vancouver keeps offering to let me try his out when I am in his neck of the woods.

How politely should I decline for financial reasons?

Nope. Not buying yet.

Very slick vehicle. Feels weird for something that size to be that quick.

When I first show people that my 7000lb truck is as quick as a Porsche 911 they're gobsmacked. I'm kind of used to it now, but it's crazy.

Snained all day today and everyone is sliding around and I can't slide even if I try too. There's just no case where this isn't way more fun to drive than a normal truck
