Why do you say that? These days, pick-up trucks are generally an impractical status symbol that annoy your neighbors. I guess you can't coal roll someone in an electric truck or idle it indefinitely, but you can still drift between lanes and take up two parking spaces. Heck, you could probably even get some smart features for your truck nuts.

Because to get any satisfactory range, you need a massive battery pack that has all sorts of compromises(including cost, but weight, packaging, suspension, tires etc are all issues). With the tech we have right now, every truck should be required to be a hybrid. Trucks have a lot of mass, and capturing that energy on deceleration is a big win for heavy vehicles. You can also fit smaller gas engines because electric motors have a lot of torque. As batteries improve I can see it becoming an option, but right now? Well, you can see how sales are going because of all these compromises.

And also the range limitations when towing, essentially 50%, with an EV truck. Most folks won't ever tow anything but someone who is buying a truck with the intention of towing isn't going to appreciate 200 miles of range or less.

Plug in Hybrids make so much sense for Trucks that are going to be towing outside the city.
Trucks that just drive around the city can be EVs just fine.

My point is people don't buy trucks for rational reasons. It doesn't make sense to use a pick-up truck as a commuter vehicle, but people do.

Ok, we are in agreement then. Rationally, they don't make sense.

The ass of a Cyber Truck looks like a tool chest drawer or a filing cabinet door. The position of the lighting contribute to this vs helping it.
I haven't been this confused by the back of a vehicle since the Union Jack inspired lights on a Mini Cooper "pointed in the wrong direction". WTF.

One passed by me a couple of days ago, first one I have seen with my own eyes. Anyhow it's wider than a Chevy Silverado. Was surprised.

I'm not surprised the Cybertruck is bombing in Canada. How many Canadians can afford to drop $138k on such a polarizing vehicle? The Cyberbeast pricing is even more obscene. It's a niche vehicle dropped into higher end German luxury market pricing. Tesla only gained traction in North America when they released the Model 3 and then Y as the average consumer simply can't afford this type of vehicle. A more affordable Tesla pickup priced in the range of the F150 Lightning would sell like hotcakes but this isn't that.

Yup,
The starting price of a lightning isn't much different than a gas truck.

The Cybertruck is bombing everywhere.
Even today, the factory workers making the cybertruck have been told to not show up to work for the next couple days, which is often a precursor to layoffs.
Reports on Reddit have people talking about storage lots full of these that haven't moved for months.

For plumbers and other trades that carry a lot of #### it should save a ####ton of gas inside the city.

I've been thinking that a BEV Van for commercial purposes made more sense than a BEV truck for a daily commuter, but I guess it's just not sexy.
A BEV minivan for approx same price as the Lightning would be more exciting to me... Especially if they sorta start designing and marketing it as something that would be pretty slick for a variety of lifestyles such as the daily commuter, the trades work horse and van life... but I digress.
I think there Ford Transit quietly released a BEV van for 2024 for $75K? I assumed that this type of vehicle would have been released far earlier than the BEV trucks TBH.

Yeah, BEV work vans make so much sense.
E Transit is available, E-Sprinter too.
Rivian's delivery van will be available to the public early next year (amazon has been using them for a while)
Brightdrop (GM) are available (not sure how easy to get)
Ram Promaster EV should be available next year.
