That is true as well. I mean we point to Anaheim and say the coach needs to go, the same can be said here in Buffalo.
When you have so many players young players going backwards you have to wonder are they surrounded by the right people.
They have made some really bad hires. I didn't even mention Dan Bylsma as well. Who ended up in the AHL a short while after lol.

Warners pretty connected to Buffalo.
He speculates that Ruff is the Pegula pawn and hire and that he feels Ruff was just a stop gap at coach to become the GM.
I’d wager Adams is out next and Ruff moves up.
Absolutely toxic environment and almost nobody wants to be there anymore I’ve heard. So much so that even some of the support staff are complaining.
Can’t imagine what it’s like in that room.
All I know is when owners and GMs are flying out mid road trip there’s definite smoke, made worse by the fact that they’ve come out and said no changes the answers in the room.
Sure… sure.. we beleive you

They should look at Nashville and see why this is a bad idea.
Some of these old school guys are meant to be coaches. With Ruff he isn’t even that good.

Smart play to be honest. "You guys are terrible and we're making changes because of this!!!" *walks out to media "yeah, the answers are in the room, we're not desperate to make a change if other GM's were wondering".

Oh yes, the mystery injury. He was lights out garbage last year and he was fine. He is a soft player that can't handle the physicality when the playoffs ramp up.

But if people think goaltending in any means is the flames biggest problem they should watch our overpaid forwards try to score goals. That’s the Achilles heel of this team.

Pretty obvious that Petterson is one of the four or five guys on the roster who Tocchet says are not emotionally invested in the game.

Vladar is a career back up with a .885 save % this year.
Wolf has been quite a bit better.

Huh.
Most people realize the only reason we are in the position we are is goaltending mostly Wolf and that our offence sucks.

It’s hard to say that Vladar hasn’t won games this year either. No goalie on this offensively sad sack team should be getting any grief in my mind.
I wasn’t taking a shot at you. Just stating vladar always gets left out of the conversation which I don’t think is fair.

I agree but the rest of the world especially the other teams aren't stupid.
If you and I can see right through this.... let's be honest.
The smart move is to just not say anything, to anyone.

3.08 and .885
vs
2.65 and .915
behind the same team.
But i learned last week that talking truth about Vladar is akin to killing puppies around here.

Which is the difference between a Vezina-calibre goalie behind a horrible team and a reasonably average goalie behind a horrible team. League average save percentage is bang on .900 so far this year. Weegar + Andersson + four assorted scrubs are not going to get any goalie close to .900 unless he activates god mode. Wolf has activated a mode I haven't seen since Kiprusoff's best days.
Now, whine some more about killing puppies.

Frank claimed today they are still considering re-signing him. I don't get it and never have

It's not an example of what goes wrong when you go scorched earth, it's an example of what can go wrong if you go scorched earth and have terrible management that doesn't know what they're doing. Colorado and Tampa both picked high in multiple instances over 5-7 year periods during their rebuilds and were pointed to as examples of cautionary tails against tanking, and both won Cups.

Vladar passes the eye test (most nights). His numbers don't tell the full story in my opinion.

Vladar is the bottom third of goalies in goals saved above expected that have played more than 10 games. He's left out of those conversations because he's not good.

Yeah vladar is ok some nights but I don't think numbers lie over 3 years. Has some really bad games and stretches. Pulls numbers down. One of worst goalies in league last 2 years.
