That goal he scored deking through Dickinson by kicking the puck with his feet was insane. Very skilled player.

Lol. No player is actually declining the chance to play at World Juniors. For these guys this is the pinnacle of their careers, and there's no guarantee they'll make the NHL. The exposure can also make or break a career.

it's definitely a good thing that Parekh gets to go and at least compete for a spot. But if Hockey Canada had him as the 11th best Canadian dman after what he's accomplished already I'm not sure he can do much more at selection camp to change their mind
I would be very salt if I was a Sens fan, with the World Juniors being hosted in Ottawa and there's 11 guys (maybe more) Hockey Canada ranks above Yakemchuk.

Cowan injured again. Maybe another spot opens up for a forward.

Too early for Regher. Redden, Morris, Steven's, Desjardins.

Parekh projected to hit 115 PIMs this season (compared to 64 last year). I wonder if he was told (by us) to work on his physical game?

Could see that as a real possibility. Could also be the fact that he’ll likely be a little bigger/stronger than last year so he’ll assert himself a little more. Can’t discount that he’ll also be even more of a target from opposing players in junior now. He would have always been targeted by other teams last year for being a top player. But even more so that he’s drafted and “famous”. All development leagues have undrafted or lower players that really want to get a piece of high drafted players. Parekh might be responding in kind which would be great if so. Wouldn’t surprise me if there’s a trend for most drafted players to get more PIMs in their D+1 year compared to their Draft year.

If the Flames ever fix Forever A Flame and do it properly guys like him should be honoured by this team.

Stevens was 38 at the time and was slow as molasses. The focus when picking the team was skill and skating. Souray was never in the mix, don't think he had really established himself until the 2004 lock out TBH and he wasn't at the fall training camp. Bryan McCabe was never in the mix IIRC, hell I remember not liking him being on the 2006 team. McCabe had good offensive instincts and a good shot but skating and play in his own end was always ####.
Wade Redden and Eric Desjardins were the notable omissions. Richard Matvichuk was at the fall camp as wel.
