Too bad it's for Bunicke and not someone like Akey.

Hope Parekh has a chip on his shoulder and proves to HC brass they made a terrible mistake not even inviting him to camp initially.
I'm also back to cheering on the squad if he makes the team.

This is correct, he was a late invite to the summer camp but by the time they were naming the roster he was undeniable.

You're right Travis... it's 11 guys!
lol.
In fairness, I’d be a bit pissed too if I were the Senators or Yakemchuk. It’s a puzzling decision. Went to the teddy bear toss and saw him at ice level. He’s noticeably bigger than last year. I think he’s going to have a shot at being a tremendous D.
Don’t get me wrong, happy Parekh is going and hoping he’s going to be even better than Yakemchuk.

Gagne and Iginla both made the team and eventually were playing with Sakic. What a lineup:
Kariya-Lemieux-Yzerman
Gagne-Sakic-Iginla
Shanahan-Nieuwendyk-Fleury
Lindros-Nolan-Peca
Smyth
Pronger-MacInnis
Niedermayer-Foote
Jovanovski-Blake
Brewer
Brodeur
Joseph
Belfour

100%. This isn't some house league all star game. It's the biggest tournament on the biggest stage. It's an honor no matter how you how you get picked.
The last thing we want is a young player who thinks he is entitled to these kinds of privileges.

One of my favorite parts of 2002 was Roy having a pout because they wouldn't guarantee him the starting spot, and just sitting out. And Brodeur being great.

Brewer was the political throw in. I remember like it was yesterday how outrageous that was. I can't remember the other options at the time but it was embarrassing.

Was Regehr in the conversation that year? or maybe that was too early in his career before he caught attention

Not that I can remember. I feel like Reggie wasn't on hockey canada's radar until post '04.
