Cliff is indigenous? I didn't think that through all the years, that's surprising.

Lol, made way better by who he was responding to. I guess I forgot about that. Although, I can barely remember things from earlier this year let alone 3.5 years ago.

Congratulations on surrounding yourself with privileged people though! Maybe you should visit some queer spaces, women's shelters, private hospitals etc. and see how those that governments/insurance execs pick on are doing, before you proclaim that everything is peachy, and that we should all just get offline and smell the roses.

Not saying it's perfect by any means, but I'd be curious what time/place you think it would have been better to be trans or a woman than the west in the 21st century?
Legitimately interested here, because I think both those groups have more rights/protections now than they ever have had in the past, but I'm not either so maybe I'm missing something...

IMO, we should stop making judgements on people based on ethnicity or background as much as possible. Positive or negative. Just let people be who they are and learn about them through your interactions and observing them with an open mind.

If they ain't bothering you, or hurting anyone, why is it an issue at all?
8 billion people on the planet, I can't be bothered with what's going on in the neighbors backyard, especially if he's just doing his thing.
But omg, someone cut off their ######, or owns guns, or or or. Wgaf? NIMBYS gonna NIMBY.

Probably about 10-11 years ago, before the current shift. Sometime around/just before the Bathroom Ban culture war started.

Like I said, we're near the peak. The inflection point seems to be around 2020-2022 (Florida's "Don't Say Gay" law and the overturn of Roe v. Wade are both 2022 events).

I think the issue with what Cliff said and how he phrased it isn't that it isn't true. The problem is that it flippantly dismisses people that are still struggling to live and be accepted.
Look at how grotesquely 2Stonedbirds just described trans persons.
And it becomes increasingly troublesome to hear when certain places - such as Alberta - seem to be purposely taking steps backwards and making life more difficult for certain groups.

psycnet, pepsi free, lanny mcdonald, looch city, rube cube, and a bunch of other folks who circle jerk each other how enlightened they are have made the off topic forum unbearable.
You are the 20% of people Cliff is referring to who do nothin but spread toxicity. Over an over it's complaining and targeting outgroups who don't agree with your political position. Everyone who voted for the UCP is an "Idiot" who doesn't care about anyone but themselves. This is simply not true. You don't have a monopoly on morality, but you sure act like it.

What's the UCP? Is that a new republican offshoot like the tea party? I don't recognize the name from American politics

Well, if you did vote for the UCP you either have to enjoy the prospect of being lied to and having someone who doesn't believe in science, or using data to support policy positions, practices vengeance politics, generally has cruel policy positions for the vulnerable, and you think all of that stuff is OK...for ...reasons? or you are a complete idiot. If you are the former, it's pretty hard to support that accepting those things in a leader makes you an intelligent person. No one has ever put forward a reasonable defense that can refute that conclusion. Happy to hear someone try, but it hasn't happened yet. You can do do in the appropriate thread.
