I must say though, I miss having a guy like McGratton for a rebuilding team like this. At least when the games get scrappy you can throw a gorilla out there to pound on the other team's tough guys and be a detterent. Kudos to Pospisil and Lomberg tonight, but with Pospisil's concussion history it might be worth it/fun to insert a heavyweight for the rematch in a couple days.

Who was that free agent D-man we signed who's like 6'6? If he's still in the A can he fight?
Tinordi?
Already carrying 8 D.

Do you want to waive someone and call a D or two up from the minors? None of the current options for the #6 spot are in their long term plans. Bean is younger but is a UFA after next season.

Missed the game but saw that Lomberg fought Olivier, I assume to keep the Jackets honest for a dirty hit. Clearly outmatched but doesn't hesitate for a minute. Love Lomberg.

Has Bean been that bad when he's played?

Lomberg is ####ing insane. Comes out of that still smiling.

Pospisil is also ####ing insane.

They might be my 2 favourite players on the team…

When I came back to my hotel in North Vancouver it was 2-0 right before the first ended. I watched up until the 3-0 goal.

I knew then I was better off finding something else to do. Glad I did.

If I was finals bound GM I would have Pospisil on my “must acquire” shortlist.

Tough letting a guy like this down
No
He may not have the big contract, or the reputation like others on this team
But
He has a cup
And he’s proud of it
and he wants another and he will do whatever he can to help his team

No drama like making sure everyone in the building notices how forlorn you are by twisting your stick and staring at the blade longingly as you cash your cheque while being benched for sucking
Or
Stating publicly in a press conference after literally s#itting the bed on a season that “you aren’t having fun”

He is old time hockey.

On the Sportsnet broadcast they said Huska thought Pachal/Hanley had been an effective pairing, so maybe that’s all it is. I haven’t heard anyone suggest Bean’s been bad though.

I’m a huge Lomberg fan….. he defines “team”, playing any role or taking any challenge to benefit and support the entire team. Always makes a positive contribution. Invaluable……..

I’m honestly beginning to wonder about others. I suppose I’m getting old. It appears most of the younger hockey players are more concerned about not getting tired than winning championships

Flames are a long way from being a competitive playoff team. After a surprising first quarter of the season, maybe they are now showing that they are who we thought they were.
Some of you may need to tap out for a while.

Well 100% of their bad hockey this season has been on the road, so I'm thinking it's more of a home/road issue which is something they may just need to work through.

Still plenty of reasons to be tuned in, with guys like Zary and Coronato budding and Wolf showing the potential to be elite any night.

Also still well above 500 and in a divisional playoff spot. Wouldn't get too bent out of shape yet about season-wide implications over an 0-2-1 stretch where at least one loss came on the backs of a superhuman screw-job by the refs.

You're welcome to tap out though.

I’m okay with not winning, in fact I’d prefer we get a top 10 pick so we don’t forfeit it.
This because I know this team isn’t built to go anywhere.

I’m not okay with UFA plugs wasting roster spots feeling sorry for themselves. Get rid or sit them, you’re paying them anyway yes I know, so why care where they play.

But yea I know the Flames historically won’t do the right thing, and I understand it’s a business but Craig has been very clear he’s looking for guys who want to be here and he has all the trust of ownership to do what he wants.

The Flames are not a Stanley Cup contender so we can’t expect them to win all the games they’re supposed to win. However, they go down swinging and they put in a full 60 most nights. Mix that with good goaltending and you have a team that can hold their own. They tried hard tonight but didn’t get the job done. That’s ok. Let’s keep cheering them on and let’s hope they can squeak into the playoffs for some great entertainment. The expectations were extremely low this year and they are far exceeding them. I’m enjoying watching a team that cares and tries. Let’s hope they can keep it up for the full 82 games. Go Flames Go.

I'd like Huska to make players like Kuzy, Huby and Kadri uncomfortable. Bench them for taking bad penalties or making lazy river hockey plays. If that doesn't work, sit them in the box.

Huska's getting fired someday regardless, and two of these bums will outlive him here. So who cares? Do the right thing for the team and reward effort and discipline in playing the style he's coached them to play.
