I have no idea what to say to all of you who are talking trash about Nate Danielson. He's one of the top forward prospects in the league. He just turned 20 two months ago, and has 9 points in 17 AHL games- is that not enough points for everyone?
This kid is going to be an excellent two-way C in the NHL, and I would be ecstatic to get him- but that won't happen because Yzerman is too smart to let him go.

Danielson is a Parehk level prospect.
Hes having a good d+2 year.
He would go top 10 in a redraft.

Yeah, first ever draft pick for a new franchise. They are promoting him pretty hard in that market as well. I don't suspect they will be trading him for a long.

I’m also expecting Tij to have a monster upcoming World Juniors which will only increase his profile and make him even more valued by that franchise.

he may not make the team; I've seen 4 projected rosters, and none have Iginla making it

Interesting. Haven’t been following the players that are being considered but I would have thought he would be a lock to make the team considering how great he played in the U18s, his season last year and the great start he’s had to the season this year. I guess it could be because he is one of the younger players. He just turned 18 in August.

9 points in 17 games is medicore for a top 10 pick.
Yzerman hasnt done squat since leaving Tampa Bay.

Danielson looks like a good prospect but he doesn't strike me as being an enormous upgrade over a guy like Zary, to me at least. If anything, I'd be a little surprised if he ends up being as good. I thought he was a bit of a reach when DET took him.

My view is fans want a shinier toy than Danielson. As you say, he’s touted as a good 2 way C. I’d say he’s more a 60ish C than a PPG C which is what everyone will be salivating for. I suspect that’s why people are wiping their nose at him. He’s viewed as…let’s say a bit more productive Backlund, which there is nothing wrong with, but not the 1C everyone is clamoring for. You know the drill, Anderson is worth a boatload to many, so getting someone that isn’t potentially a premier top line C is not enough.

I could easily see him at a ppg in his prime, and my argument would be that Patrice Bergeron was a 60-point C, and most people would take him as their first-line C. Not that I'm exactly comparing them.

I listened to the Conroy interview with Dregs and Ferraro, and I didn't come away thinking that the Flames are going to turn around and start trading futures. It doesn't sound like anything has changed - Conroy would like to add a C that makes sense. He has been saying this from last season.
With that being said, I found it interesting that he said: "...though Zary has looked better and it may just take some time with him".
That's why I like listening to full interviews to gauge what is being asked, how things are actually spoken about, and don't rely on tidbits taken out of context to generate clicks. If anything, it seemed like Dregs and Ferraro were putting him a bit on the spot that if the Flames were doing well enough, that he probably should be adding to the team to help them.
I am still 100% trusting Conroy here.

Is Dupont eligible to go to the WJC? Not saying he would make it, just would be wild to see a 15yo there. And on Team Canada to boot.

You know why the Flames should focus on drafting, and not trading for a centre?
Quote:
On September 4, 2021, Dvorak was traded by the Coyotes to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for a 2022 first-round pick and a 2024 second-round pick.

Because the right tier of player in that age range isn’t available via trades 99% of the time, and it just ends up being an absolute waste of assets.

Nah, the first set of proposals were just crazy. He isn’t worth Andersson++.

I’d like Jerome Iginla to drink from the fountain of youth and join the flames.
And that has likely a better chance of happening.

Is a draft pick that doesn’t play in the NHL a waste of an asset too?

The prospect Zary never really looked like the NHL Zary.

Disagree, he was extremely impressive even as an 18-year-old during his first stint in the AHL. Had an injury-plagued year to start his pro career but always looked like an impactful player to me. (And wasn't drafted nearly as high as Danielson).
