I don't think Swift's music is particularly great, every song of hers sounds exactly the same. I think other similar artists like Miley Cyrus or Chappell Roan at least have a much more dynamic sound and variety in their music. Obviously I'm not the target demo for any of them but that's just how it plays out to my ears.

Was in New Orleans for it a couple weeks ago (my S.O. had a ticket, I didn't), and waited in line with her for merch for 4 HOURS out in the blazing midday sun. I was impressed by how happy and friendly Swifties are; didn't hear anybody getting frustrated with the wait times, they were just happily exchanging bracelets with strangers and making friends.

I'm naturally turned off against anyone THAT popular, so I've gotten pretty sick of all the Swiftmania, but I'll admit it seems like a lot of good vibes only at her tour (and a helluva show I'm told)

Yeah nothing wrong with liking taylor swift, but there is also nothing wrong with ####ing hating her and her music.

I was only pushing against the idea that hating Taylor is only for sexists.

Hating Taylor Swift is, at best, kind of corny.

It’s like being an atheist or a vegan. It’s not really a “thing” anybody asks about but for some reason, you have to hear about it.

Like, we get it, you’re a total original and this is totally unique part of your personality. You don’t follow “the crowd.” Everybody clap.

Captain obvious here, but people just hate what they don't 'get'

I don't 'get' Taylor Swift either.... And I shouldn't, it's not aimed at me.

I use an Android but I don't understand why someone using a 2022 iPhone charger would need to go buy new cables and adaptors specifically for 2023/24 model cars of which I have rented recently.

Do we need adaptors now to charge our phones via our computers ports? The larger port end used to be universal and their was various plug in options before which made things challenging sometimes but now we are just redoing the opposite for no progress I think?
Geraldsh thanked your post. Enough said.

I was only pushing against the idea that hating Taylor is only for sexists.

I didn't even see the debate going on, just saw the part defending Swift and wanted to chime in since I had a recent Swift'esque experience.

Trust me I definitely understand the natural recoiling to someone this popular- especially when you're dating a Swiftie, and was in a concert city during it - but I was just impressed with what a happy, "good vibes" fanbase it is.

Whatever. Sometimes music can just be fun. Not everything needs to be a spiritual journey for the soul.

Set them down and pour a little water on the blades so they can freeze to the windshield

I guess they just love wearing out their wiper springs so they barely contact the windshield in 5 years.

I like when it gets windy and they slam into and crack it too

Ha. All these plebs with their non-heated wipers.

How can you tell I bought a new car?

Seriously though, I have never done that and never had my wipers freeze to the windshield or whatever lifting them off the windshield is supposed to be preventing.

My new neighbour is doing this. It’s ridiculous. Around the corner there’s someone who puts a windshield blanket on that has straps that run back to the rear door handles.

For the longest time, I thought that was a prank. Then someone told me it's so that the wipers don't freeze to the windshield.

I also realized that you basically have to go tropical rainforest inside your car for your wipers to get stuck. How else could you leave a dry windshield and melt enough snow to make enough ice to get your wiper frozen in place? I set the climate control to something like 20.5 and then I use the seat warmer and heated steering wheel to get comfy. I'll set it to 22-23 if the kids complain about being cold in the back. I can't wait till they don't need car seats anymore because then the back seat warmers can be used instead.

I sat in someone's truck and they set it at 26 before the vehicle warmed up so it was blasting cold air. They were also inexplicably upset that I wanted to use the seat warmer... they claimed the seat warmer uses extra gas or something?

I don't have any strong opinions on Swift, other than being mildly annoyed by the secondary effects of her concerts (i.e. early december in Vancouver is going to be an absolute mess downtown when I'm there and hotel rooms cost thousands of dollars no matter where in the lower mainland you might want to book).

There are, as I understand it, some legitimate gripes people have with her in terms of the steps she and her "team", I guess you'd call it, have taken to economically manipulate the industry, sometimes at the expense of other artists - timing re-releases of songs or myriad "special editions" of albums to coincide with the release of other artists' music to diminish the success of those releases, suing other artists for copyright infringement on dubious grounds, etc etc... I am not really familiar with the details but when people who follow her career closely have mentioned them my reaction is generally "yeah that sounds pretty shady".

I always assume the wiper people moved here from places that get ice storms.

In the winter your it to 20.5?? You're nuts , I don't even set it to that in the summer unless it's roasting outside. Current setting in my vehicle is 24 and when it gets really cold it will be 26. That's for commuting when the vehicle doesn't get a chance to fully warm up though.

I don’t think I get above 20 year round. 24 is insane.
