Not sure we would have the assets for sillinger or Johnson that Columbus would desire. Highly doubt they would be interested in late 1sts . I doubt Anderson would waive to go there or sign an extension. My guess would be Columbus wanting coranato.

I have little doubt that Huberdeau could get more points playing an offensive style with skilled players.
But betting good money on a PPG?
His skills have declined since his hay days, otherwise he'd be getting more than a 40 point pace. I guess the question is how much of it is now lack of confidence? Because even his paltry pace is held up by an exceptionally hot start with an unsustainable shooting percentage. Because even his 43 point pace will start becoming a 30 point pace shortly. Since the first 2 games where he got 5 points, his pace is 24 points.

The Rfa extensions could take up a big chunck of it.
I cant see them re-signing mantha or kuzmenko at this point.
Looking at the chart next year and who they might keep around, it looks like they won't need any wingers especially if guys like klapka and pelletier are still in the org. They will probably still need a center via trade or UFA.
If it comes to UFA I could see them going after guys like steel, roslovic, frederic, kunin, evans or Donato.
If wolf looks like they really thing maybe they should just throw 13x8 at Rantenan lol

I could see them running it back with Mantha, on another 1 year deal, probably at an even lower rate.

His injury could really affect his ability to play at the same level we are used to.
He's likely not a good bet.

The longer sample size suggests 50 points.
The Flames are in an epic period of not scoring many goals.
I wouldn't use small sample sizes in a young season to down grade him 20 points in subsequent seasons yet!

And their future anyway, might be better for them that he doesn't have to compete for starts.

If cap ceiling is $92.5 million, cap floor would be around $68 million.

If the flames don’t sign any big UFA names in the offseason, how far below the cap would they be? Would honestly rather give more money to Zary and Coronato to sign them longer term than overpay a veteran UFA to get to the cap floor.

You still need to fill the roster.

He’s also crazy. I’d be worried he’d kick my office door down if a goalie trade went down.

roughly 15M below the cap, but need to sign 5 forwards, 4 defensemen and a goalie to fill out the roster

For sure. But assuming the missing spots in the roster were filled with players already in the system such as Honzek, Klapka, Brz, Poirier or Parekh… I’m wondering how far below the cap floor we would we be?

Oh, I wasn't suggesting he a 20 point guy.
But what happens if (when?) he gets moved off of PP1?
Yes, Calgary is not scoring goals. He's one of the primary reasons why they are not. Changing things to help that will likely lead to a decrease in his PP1 time.
50 points? Wow.
When your top PP1 guy is getting 50 points, expect the team to go through an epic period of not scoring goals.

You suggested a reduction of 20 points going from 50 to 30.
I'm not trying to make the case that 50 is great, just not ready to downgrade him by 40% playing on a team that isn't scoring, and may not have the defense core to transition the offence.

I assume that Zary and Coronato are 2 of those forwards. If they continue to look like they will be top six forwards on this team, the flames could take the gamble and sign them long term. I know neither of them are on pace for big point production this year but their play looks good and I think a lot of that is because the team is just a low scoring team so far. If management thinks both will be top six forwards, why not do something like this (if the players accept this kind of AAV and term):
Missing forward positions:
1. Zary - sign to 8 years @ $6.5 million AAV
2. Coronato - sign to 6 years @ $5.5 million AAV
3. Honzek - already signed @ $920,000 AAV
4. Klapka - sign to 3 years @ $1.5 million AAV
5. Sign or trade for a UFA 4th line center @ $2 million AAV
Missing defence positions:
1. Poirier - sign to 2 years @ $1.5 million AAV
2. Brzustewicz - already signed @ $950,000 AAV
3. Parekh - already signed @ $975,000 AAV
4. Paschal - sign to 3 years @ $2 million AAV
Missing goalie:
1. Cooley - sign for 2 years @ $1.2 million AAV
Just with those numbers that I’m making up (honestly I have no idea if those are realistic or if some of those contracts are already included in the flames cap for next year)… that’s $22 million in cap. In that case, there’s little need to sign much in terms of UFAs. If they do, they only need to be smaller contracts.

Actually, I was talking about his 43 pace becoming a 30 point pace. Maybe Andersson gets traded. Maybe he gets moved off of PP1.

Oh yeah, the worry about hitting the floor is unwarranted. Just signing enough players to fill next year's roster will likely get us there. And if it doesn't? Just sign a project/out of favour veteran forward and Dman to 1 year deals.
There's no need to be discussing scenarios where the Flames have to overpay legitimate free agents to long term deals due to the cap floor.
