They do seem like a good partner for a trade. If Yzerman starts to feel the heat, I could see him moving a package like Rasmussen and their 2025 1st for Andersson. The Flames land that 24 and under C (one with size) and get futures, the Wings get a big boost to a weak blue line.

Rasmussen is 25 and will be 26 by the seasons end. I would hope for something else

I’m not sure he’s cooked just yet based on those comments. Admittedly, I don’t watch the Ducks and, for whatever it’s worth (not much), been a complete non factor in my fantasy hockey league for years, maybe he is cooked. Who knows. What I’ll say though is there have been more than a few goalies left for dead who’ve rebounded to show they’re not done

I never said he was cooked. But the issue would be for this year's cap, not down the road. Even 3.5 is beyond Edmonton right now if Kane comes back at all - they'd need another team to take half of that. And next year Bouchard comes up plus they need to fill 7 skater roster spots. Plus they have 2 goalies under contract.

I wouldn't doubt that Stan Bowman is one of the hockey executives that thinks Gibson is still very good.
He is the same person who traded for Seth Jones and gave him a massive contract.

One can hope.
Skinner and their 2026 1st for Gibson at 37% off.

Who did they trade their 2026 first for? I know they traded their 2025 first (top 12 protected) but I don’t remember the 2026 first being traded yet.

Looks like 26 is a condition on the 25 traded.

I see. So they could potentially trade their 2026 first if they don’t end up with a top 12 pick this year.

The Oilers 26 pick is available.
Oilers 25 pick is traded to the Flyers and top 12 protected but with the condition that if the Oilers trade their 26 pick, the Flyers get the 25 pick unprotected.

Just to discuss if he's cooked or not. Just like 1 goal savior Kapanen the last good season Gibson had was 18/19. It's been downhill since. Not sure you count on a bounce back 6 years later.
THe Oilers should take that chance on him like stated above. Skinner a 1st, maybe toss in a prospect as well.

I said above I don't argue Gibson is cooked (although while he's only 31, he tends to play a lot of games). The question is whether he's a big improvement on Skinner. Skinner's numbers behind a pretty bad defenive team for the most part are better than Gibson's for a bad team.

The Oilers should just trade for Jack Campbell. He's had better results in recent years than John Gibson... Or even bring in Mike Smith. Has he officially retired yet?

Gibson's numbers may be in large part to how terrible that roster has been since they've moved off of Getz and Perry.

Oh hes cooked, stats yoy have declined.
I think Edmonton should take the chance for the bounce back at age 31 behind that stout defence.
His 906 save % in 3 games so far this year is a huge improvement on what they have.
Excited for the Oil and their fans if this gets done.

The Flames roster isn't nearly as bad as we want it to be compared to Anaheim's the last 8 years?

I think that was the assumption...but Dostal is challenging that potentially a bit this year with his .924 behind an equally bad roster.
