Might be in the minority on this but outside of Vladar and Kuzmenko, I don’t think we will see much from the Flames this season by way of trade.
I think it will take a hell of an offer for the Flames to move Andersson this season. Unless Andersson tells the Flamrs he’s not resigning, I would be a bit surprised they have serious discussions about it until the offseason.
I think it’s more likely both sides, Flames and Andersson, are comfortable letting this season play out and see where they’re at in the offseason.

Martin Necas with 26 points in 16 games... I wonder if Cozens can pop like that.

The necas comments during the summer when some were talking about acquiring him was funny.
Hindsight being 20/20, boy were those ppl wrong that thought there's wasn't anything there.

Between the gifs, it seems like things are heating up and Conroy is deciding between multiple offers.
I would say that Vladar/Cooley is one target, and Andersson is probably another.
I think there is some desperate teams out there right now, putting Conroy firmly in the drivers seat.

I doubt it. This kind of stuff is said every year and, for the most part, nothing of significance happens until you get into the new year at the earliest. February is a more likely timeline.
Teams may be worried but are, say, the Sabres ready to move their first or Couzens? Kinda reminds me of last years talk about the Devils being desperate and Mercer was the guy.

After the satellite hotstove segment on HNIC last night I instantly went to think Huberdeau for Hall.
But now you're saying Kuzmenko is on Chicago's radar. Maybe Hall for Kuzmenko.

A healthy scratch for Taylor Hall has fired up the rumor mill in Chicago. The Hockey News had an article defining the need for a #2 Center. They floated Nelson, Granlund, Monahan, and Gourde as potential targets.

Flames have received a lot of phone calls to see what the temperature is. Conroy hasn't taken the open for business sign down. Vladdy's market is small but its building. One source claims there is a market for Huberdeau. I laughed.
Kuzmenko is not in the flames long term plans. Chicago had interest last season while he was in Vancouver. Might be a swap of expiring UFA's to look at, source confirm a conversation has taken place.
David Jiricek is difficult for Calgary to acquire because their looking for a swap of prospects similar to what the pens and jets did this year and nobody is moving 2026 picks for young prospects.

To CHI: Andrei Kuzmenko
To CGY: Taylor Hall
That seems like a deal that could happen.

Taylor Hall has this year at $6M. Huberdeau has this year plus six more at $10.5M. That $6M vs. $73.5M.
Even if Huberdeau was scoring at a 90 point pace snd had been since he came to the Flames, I doubt very much the Black Hawks make that trade.

The question I’d ask; why?
Are the Flames in the business of helping the Black Hawks out or something? If a pick is coming with Hall, maybe?

Exactly.
I’d rather just trade Kuzmenko for a 3rd. What do we need Hall for? Teach our young players bad habits ?
We rail on Edmonton, he was a huge reason why they sucked.

Small update, Flames have checked in on the cost of Jiricek, price too high.
Feeling still like Calgary and Buffalo may dance here, nothing imminent but teams have had more than a few calls in the last few weeks.

Not only does it not make sense for on ice reasons, I don’t think it makes sense off the ice either. From what I understand, Kuzmenko is well liked in the room. What would the Flames be interested in shipping him out for a guy who’s older, has more baggage, and would likely be an equal, or worse, asset by the deadline?
I’m sure all the guys, Kuzmenko included, can see that he’s all but certainly going to be moved by the deadline but they probably also anticipate that it will be because the organization is moving in a younger direction. Adding an older player at similar, or worse, value is at complete odds to what the Flames have said publicly and, likely, privately.
If they say they are going to do something, ie get younger, then why wouldn’t they follow through on that? At least the guys in the room would understand that.

Deals can take months, or longer, to realize. I agree with what Sec had to say just a few posts ago. The window for an Andersson deal could very well be open but it’s going to have to be a ‘blow your socks off’ type offer.
Personally, I think it’s more likely that Andersson finishes the year out with the Flames. A) I’m not convinced the Flames want to move him at all until they get word from Andersson himself that he want to play elsewhere. If that happens, you move him as soon as you get your ask or someone steps up with more. B) if you have time, use it. Let Andersson’s strong play and hopeful strong appearance at four nations play itself out. There’s no hurry on the Flames end.
That said, what is a ‘blow your socks off’ offer? I’m not sure Buffalo is prepared to part with Couzens. If he leaves, they have a pretty big hole at C to fill, especially if they’re intent to go compete for a playoff spot this year, which one would have to think is an absolute must. That could be a horrendous trade for them now and in the future. As the Flames and a handful of others teams would tell you, finding a young C is very difficult. Especially via trade. Danielson from the Red Wings? Pinto? These names have been bandied about for a while now but longer it goes without any insider of note even making mention these guys are available, the less likely they are available , I’d say.
