From what I saw he said he's against ultra processed foods which is a good thing. He wants to remove certain chemicals and additives in foods which we know are not healthy. He wants ultra processed foods out of schools. He wants to review pesticide and chemical use in farming which is a major issue. He wants to spend money on preventative health measures which 100% should be done. Diet and exercise definitely need to be better emphasized to improve peoples health span. He wants to focus on diet and exercise as opposed to drugs like Ozempic. The guys 70 and jacked. I don't see any issue with what hes promoting and hes living proof he must know a thing or two.
I don't know about the lot of you, but I would prefer to take my personal health advise from my family doctor rather than my personal trainer. But that's just me.

RFK jr appeals to a widespread, common-sense idea that the problem with our food is that it has "lots of artificial ingredients". Get the artificial ingredients out — no chemical additives! no food dyes! no high fructose corn syrup! — and our health problems magically resolve.
This is 100% incorrect, and fundamentally misunderstands the problems with our food system.#
Here's the truth: If people keep eating large amounts of highly caloric foods made with organic sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup, colored with beet juice instead of Red No4, our health problems will remain precisely the same.#
I have always disliked Maher’s style of comedy and commentary. Plus, he was openly and vocally sorry when Clinton was chosen instead of Sanders (although he gave Clinton $1M thereafter). Which means he is either disingenuous now or has changed his views dramatically since 2015. Yet, I agree with pretty much every word in this clip. Good for him for being unafraid of the backlash he’s gonna get for it likely. Solid centre left party will be the right answer to Trumpism at the next elections, not another Portlandia version of it. Democrats need to acknowledge and accept it sooner rather than later (unless there’s no way back for them now from where they are).

You only got played because you're a complete ####ing idiot that didn't listen to what Trump was actually promising to do. There's going to be so many leopards eating peoples faces in the next 4 years
Yeah I mean it was completely foreseeable that what Trump means by “peace” is capitulation to Russia on Ukraine and for Israel to occupy Gaza. There’s peace but both situations are less than ideal for Ukrainians and Palestinians. If you voted for him thinking anything else and are now shocked and angered, again, like I’ve said before in this thread - I have no empathy for you. Unfortunately though your choice is going to cause harm to others.
That article almost reads like something out of the Beaverton to be honest, which is quite something that that’s where the world has landed.
If he accomplishes any of that I’ll give him the credit he deserves. Has he mentioned how he’s going to do it? The President loves crappy food, and so do his supporters (his detractors too, but they don’t count). They’re also fans of the free market and personal freedom. Good luck getting them to change or support regulations that affect the food they love.
I don't think his plan is to force people into anything. I definitely think education on these topics would be beneficial though. The general population is probably quite oblivious to what they're actually consuming even if they think its harmless. Removing certain ingredients from food is something you can do that benefits people and lets them choose what they want at the same time. A lot of ingredients in American products are banned in other countries. When you look at food products and they have 40 ingredients and only need 5 then there probably is an issue there.
Regulations on production would be similar. Everyone knows organic produce will be healthier than produce that's been sprayed by a crap load of chemicals. Trying to improve that seems like a no brainer and ultimately benefits everyone.
People don't care about policy, they care about soundbites and stories. Trump just won an election based upon policies that will hurt the average American. He is viewed with distrust by nearly everyone who didn't vote for him and a lot of people who did vote for him. But he has a story - a story about how he is going to fix all of people's problems and in doing so he has made it about evil migrants who are terrorizing communities. There are heartfelt messages from people who have been victims of crime and that is part of the story that they are being sold.
It is an easy to digest story. Same thing with transgendered people - they want to ruin womens sports and that they are defending women, while at the same time taking away women's freedom to choose.
I may be way behind the conversation but I think this is a key point. Americans have been force fed "American Exceptionalism" for so long that the average citizen does not see themselves as "average" so the poicies, good or bad, don't resonante with them. Joe the Plumber is the perfect example. His candidate would actually raise his taxes but when asked why he votes for him his answer is 'when I am in the 1% I don't want higher taxes.' And he believes it.
You can't message to a group when the people in that group don't think they are part of that group. Has Trump ever muttered the phrase middle-class or avearage? Nope. People tune it out as they don't think it means them.
Dems need to target policy discussions in a way that will resonate. "If you make less than $100,000 a year your taxes will go down $15,000 in my first year." And never use the phrase middle-class, working-class, average, deplorable or garbage.

what will happen is the cost to the US economy, inflation due to higher food prices (healthy food is way way more expensive) job losses etc by doing any of these things would be horrendous and then of course the chance Trump is going to allow billions to be taken out of the pockets of the multi national companies that the GOP represents and fund them is a laughable idea.
So he will gut the oversight on medications and food but not the foods and meds themselves, declare that his job is done and life for the US will get way way more unhealthy
People say this all the time but I don't think its even true. Go buy some ground beef and make burgers for your family. I bet its cheaper at the grocery store than some fast food restaurant and its exponentially healthier.
That's life though. You're not going to like every aspect of every person or agree with ever belief someone has. Any push to try and provide better food for people seems like a win because diet accounts for a massive percentage of peoples health problems.
Imagine thinking RFK is jacked at 70 because of "diet and exercise" and not, you know, steroids. And I do not care if he does, to each their own with how you wanna treat your body, but exercise, raw milk, and whale carcasses are not why he looks the way he does. Like a lot of people it's steroids and exercise, but good for him. Maybe he can get Trump on roids and have him slim down and jack up.
Ya ya the lazy mans excuse for why someone looks good. Rogan looks good because of steroids. Lets ignore the decades of dedicated exercise and healthy eating. Just do a little HGH and that's all you need. RFK is 70 and still bench pressing heavy. Its impressive if he's using HGH or not. And HGH is very normal for someone his age. Just such a weak argument to try and diminish someone who actually lives what he preaches and eats healthy and exercises regularly. Take HGH out of the equation he's still eating good and exercising at 70. Something every person could take example from.

Except for all the people who will die because of his vaccine policies? This nonsense of accepting massive flaws because of one or two ideas you agree with is ridiculous. Would you amputate your leg because it helps with your weight loss goals?

In todays day and age if you think your family doctor knows best when it comes to health and wellness you're living under a rock. This has become such a specialized field. Also any person can research and learn things...just like doctors do.

To your first point, sure, it might be a good thing to look at, but if you ban some of these additives in food that don't have a ton of evidence linking them to diseases, and then simultaneously ban vaccines or reduce public confidence in them, any potential benefits from food changes are instantly wiped out by removing the one public health measure that has insanely good data to support it prolonging people's lives.
To your last point...organic doesn't automatically equal healthier. Pesticides are only an issue in a handful of thin skinned fruits and vegetables. The majority have thick rinds or waxy coatings, and the majority of pesticides are easily washed off. The flip side of that is the lack of available produce that comes if you turn everything organic overnight (not to mention the lack of labour to actually harvest the produce), limiting supply and driving up prices. Wasn't this election mostly about things rising in price too quickly?

The flip side is true as well where it is pretty nonsensical to find some flaws, sometimes small and sometimes one or two bigger flaws, to dismiss a person or group along ideological lines and to discredit their otherwise good policies or proposals.

LOL...no, sorry, that's just not a good thought.
Doctors go through years and years of basic and clinical sciences because biology is insanely complex and health is highly multi-factorial. Understanding how the balance works is a very challenging task. It cannot be learned over the internet.
Not to mention the hours and hours of required clinical experience to become licensed. Not to mention the constant requirements for continuing education. Not to mention the areas of active research many doctors are involved in. I could go on, but in no way does the average person, even a very intelligent one, have the same ability to understand these things the way doctors do.
Just an insanely arrogant and asinine thing to say.
