I am aware this is a very high level sentiment, and the next four years are going to be significant for many and downright oppresives for others, but when your back is against the wall and you begin to lose a sense of control is when human determinism really kicks in.

continuing with the overused sports analogy for politics, treat it like a rebuild. Ditch the country club atmosphere and the lazy, uninspired veterans. Accumulate and develop talent, instill a culture of hard work, team first mentality, and hating to lose. It's what the Republicans had to do, which is why they're currently holding the trophy.

It's definitely an apt analogy. I'd go one step further and give the Republicans campaign a win over the Democrats. For as vile and awful as Trump and his brand and politics are, I think today's article by Max Fawcett sums that up quite well.
National Observer: What Trump's extremely online victory means for progressive politics in Canada
Quote:
As Democrats continue to sift through the ashes of Tuesday’s election, they’ve begun the process of trying to understand what happened to them and their country. This was no mere fluke like 2016, and there is no single tactical or strategic decision — other than, perhaps, Joe Biden’s refusal to step down after the midterm elections in 2022 — that can explain why so many Americans decided to double down on Donald Trump. In the end, Kamala Harris never really had a chance.
That’s in large part because her party is still fighting elections like it’s 2008. Harris had more endorsements, including most of Trump’s former cabinet. She raised more money, spent more on conventional advertising, and had the most sophisticated “ground game” — that combination of phone bankers, door knockers, and other volunteers dedicated to annoying people into voting — in American political history.
Trump, in contrast, outsourced his own ground game, such as it was, to Elon Musk and Charlie Kirk. And while his campaign was often accused of being “terminally online,” that’s actually where it did its most important work. MAGA Republicans have controlled the alternative media space in America for years now, whether that’s podcasts or streaming or other non-conventional sources of information.

Saw a good comment on Reddit about #99, and now I can't unsee it:
Wayne Gretzky is as much a Canadian icon as Tim Hortons. They used to be good, but sold out to corporate interest long ago.

I also suspect that by 2026, there will be a large amount of moderate Republicans that are going to have buyer's remorse when they realize that Trump isn't protecting their freedoms or their wallet, and America is going to have to start making their voices heard. Many Republicans will spin doctor what Trump does, but many will also have a breaking point - and it's not even Trump that's the problem, it's his surrounding people and PACs that will greatly make up that equation too. Things are going to get reprehensibly worse before they get better unfortunately.
As you and Ingelwood Jack alluded to (and same with what Jimmy Kimmel said the other night) the next four years may be needed to 'reset' the political spectrum as something that was needed to eventually get American democracy back on the right track. The beginning of the rebuild, so to speak. You could say they're at their Summer 2022-2023 Treliving era right now.

Mark Cuban—who is backing Harris—said “you never see him around strong, intelligent women, ever, it’s very simple, they’re intimidating to him,” when asked about Trump’s ability to court Nikki Haley voters during an appearance on ABC’s “The View,” adding “he doesn’t like to be challenged by them, and you know, Nikki Haley will call him on his nonsense with reproductive rights and how he sees and treats and talks about women.”

Meanwhile Trump has hired one of the smartest and most powerful women in the GOP as the first female White House Chief of Staff.

This is a Flames board. Yes, we do not like Republican Wayne Gretzky. We don't like Democratic Wayne Gretzky. We don't like Fried Wayne Gretzky. And we don't like Wayne Gretzky over-easy.
Drunk Wayne Gretzky is kind of amusing though I will give you that.

Let's also not forget that some things are happening that the Trump administration cannot turn the clock back on and they're going to be forced to accept as realities whether they want to or not:
- The rapid growth and scaling of digital economies and automation reshaping job markets, including the growth of gig and freelance work (and the need for protections and benefits for people in this economy)
- Climate change and extreme weather events (no matter what MTG or crazy right-wings tell you)
- biodiversity loss and water scarcity
- the transition to the green economy
- rising calls for well distribution and fairer taxation policies
- declining birthrates (much to the chagrin of christians)
- global migration and urbanization, including a growing urban/rural divide in human needs
- mental health awareness
- the unstoppable shift to cheap batteries and electric cars
And the list goes on and on.
The question is - will the Republicans under Trump (and other conservative movements like his) work with or against this societal change?

I can't see them supporting anything on your list. To be honest, some of your list might even age out. The first mass marketed hydrogen fuel cell powered car is online in Australia.

That's the problem with the right-wing mindset; it's "our way only, there's no other way, and if we shout and stomp our feet enough, that'll make the problems go away". It's anti-change and it's head-in-the-sand behaviour, FYGM so to speak. Hell, Marlaina is the Canadian queen of this delusion.
It's a fleeting mindset that doesn't work with society, science, technology, and environment rapidly evolving/changing regardless of whether people want it to or not.
