The rebirth of Laser Illusions...I spent a lot of time in there at Southcentre in the 90s, along with the 'new' theatre at the mall.

Ah man, what a place that was. I loved the crappy arcade in Westbrook, too. Almost got abducted there as a kid! Memories.

I loved Laser Illusions. And who can forget Wizard's Castle in Chinook.

However I think this new place will sadly be just like the Rec Room, except larger with more carnival games. I was at the Rec Room a few weeks ago, they only had two pinballs; one had a 'limp' flipper and the other one was out of order.

I'll believe "premium dining" when I see it. Literally every single business venture in the last tens years that tries this golf simulator, bowling, games room type idea proclaims premium dining/food experience mixed with recreation.

The vast majority end up with food that ranges between cafeteria and passable pub food. Very rare they actually end up providing a high quality food/dining experience. It's just not economical.

In this context "premium dining" means "$14 chicken fingers"

Yeah, the premium is the pricing not the food quality.

As this place's raison d'etre is drunken night out, anything edible counts as "premium dining".

Does anyone really go to an arcade for fine dining though? It’s gonna be filled with children, stoners and team building events. Not exactly the fine dining crowd.

Well that was kind of part of my point. Every one of them sells themselves on it and none of them do it. They try to sell the upscale entertainment experience. Basically "bring your company, bring your clients and business friends, we'll treat you to a fun, upscale entertainment experience".

But it doesn't really make sense. Just advertise good pub food/setting and most people would be happy to play some games in that setting. Don't tell me I'm going for a great dining/food experience because a great dining/food experience generally takes an entire business start up cost/expertise. It's not something you can toss onto a business venture that's focused on purchasing simulators and games.

Pretty much.

- What is that?

"Thats a bag of peanuts. But they're salted peanuts so they're premium!! Also they're $18."

Pinball is lame, anyway.

We need another helicopter flight simulator somewhere. There was one at UofC I used to kick ass on.

I firmly believe with every fiber of my being I could fly a helicopter very well. I'm so confident, in fact, I'd even volunteer to fly one if there was ever the need - I'd just lie and say I was a pilot. You wouldn't know I've never taken a lesson.

Yeah Christian Bookstore or Publications...

Some thing like that.

A girl I dated in the mid 90's dragged me there to get something for her nephews for Xmas one year. Bookstore, not the peelers.

It was empty for a while as I would walk past it to get to work around
2009ish.

Quite a surprise when we ended up there after a scotch tasting event at a colleagues condo a few years ago.

Took me a few minute's to realize where I was.
