Not the typical open and closing (maybe better for another thread), but Tom Baker Cancer Centre now closed (I work in palliative care and worked evening shift this last week - strange emotions admittedly...)
Come Monday, the Arthur JE Child Comprehensive Calgary Cancer Centre era starts...
So it begins...

The ending of any job location, especially what you do, is emotional. In a Province with the Government we have, the new Cancer Centre is something to be very proud of. Let's remember who had the vision to build it.

My wife has the first of her final 8 radiation treatments at the new Centre tomorrow. While it still sucks we have to go, we're a little excited to see the new facility.
Tom Baker has been excellent for us through a decidedly crappy time but it's definitely showing its age and you can tell they'd given up a bit on maintaining the non-essentials. Things like cracked vinyl on the chairs being duct taped together.

Been there twice. It’s quite good - the brisket, in particular. It does get busy, though. So second the recommendation to go early.

Spent a lot of time with my Dad there. My wife starts her new gig at the ACC tomorrow morning. Excited to have a new cancer centre.

Didn't see it posted yet but a 80,000 sqft entertainment space called PowerPlay is supposed to open in late November at Southcentre mall (roughly 1.5 bigger than the rec room) supposed to be similar. Movies, VR games, arcade, food, speakeasy etc.

This was a weird one to skim read with the context of the cancer centre locked in from the previous posts.

in the old sears space. impressed they found a tenant, i don't know if there are any windows in that space, and it could only be accessed from inside teh sears building. i think that's why they build a massive outdoor structure - it's an elevator and stairwell.

D.O.P. is re-opening as DOPO in Marda Loop soon.
I can't be the only one disappointed that its going to Marda Loop (except for Marda Loopans?)
Out of the main "entertainment" districts (the Core, Beltline, Kensington, Marda Loop, Bridgeland, and Inglewood), Marda Loop is the worst. Too Far to walk to, too many vehicles, too little parking, too much construction.

Anybody know what's opening soon in the +15 level at Stephen Avenue Place?

When I was in my teens (mid 1990's) the building that now houses Boudour Rogue downtown was a Christian Book Store.

God and Jesus Christ are still being referred to often in that space.

Pretty sure that rumoured to be a Rec Room? Regardless, I'm glad arcades are making a comeback.
