Mercer is 23 in less than a week. Krebs is a left shot as well, not sure how much the RS is a key factor in the talks or not

Does kinda sound like Krebs, but being an Okotoks boy myself knowing his brother and hearing of his reputation growing up, don't know if he'd at all be worth any cost.

Certainly hasn't shown anything at the NHL level to suggest he's worth much value

I don't think the price would be very high to land Parssinen, as he's clearly not a favorite of Coach Brunette's (Foudy is playing for the Isles). I don't think they want Barrie, and Miromanov is starting to look like a fringe-NHLer at times. I'm sure if Nashville were to come calling, it would be Pachal out of the three that they would want, but I have doubts that it would be enough to land Parssinen (who is a 23 yo center), and I certainly can't see it being enough to land Tomasino- who I think just needs a change of scenery. Just my opinion, what do you think?

Seems you're getting back in the game? If you got in trouble and have a career associated with the Flames I wouldn't want you to keep engaging and put your career at risk just to entertain/inform us. Royale9 has everything covered, I'd just leave it to him, imo.

Probabaly Pinto.

You can see the unrealized potential there that Conroy and co are after.

With Krebs I just see an underwhelming player all around.

I think injuries have really eaten a huge chunk out of his development, to the point where he’s kinda vanilla now. He’s still got great wheels though, but I wouldn’t expect him to take anything but a bottom-6 role, and I’m not sure who on our team he could unseat to earn a spot….

Apparently Flames were very interested in Mercer during the Markstrom courting. Maybe NJD wants their conditional 25 1st back?

I think the story was that NJ was willing to part with Holtz, but not Mercer? I don’t think they are interested in parting with him though, and they would be wise to keep him- as he hasn’t come close to his potential yet.

Yeah I'm quite sure the Flames could have gotten Holtz if they wanted him, and likely pushed for Bahl instead. Early innings, but it looks like the right call. Holtz continues to flounder in Vegas, though did get his 1st last night.

Between a small winger, and a big defenseman (assuming similar talent level), I'll take the big defenseman every time. Wasn't interested in Holtz. Between Mercer, Bahl and Holtz, I would choose them in that order.

Conroy gets a lot of credit for the Sharangovich trade (deservedly), but I think Bahl may turn out to be the better, and more important, plucking.

Bahl was definitely the right call over Holtz.

He's been steadily improving every game and getting better the more comfortable he gets within the team structure.

Plus he's a bit of a gentle ogre. Won't destroy you , unless you provoke him.

Case in point, Bunting last night in a net scrum punches him in the face and Bahl promptly buries him in the ice in one fell swoop.

I'd love for Conroy to make a trade for Pinto. He fits exactly what they have been doing. I imagine that the cost of getting him will piss a lot of the tank people off though, which I 100% don't get. Yes, you have to make, and hit on, a lot of draft picks during a rebuild, but those picks can also be used for young, somewhat proven, guys with upside. They are less of a lottery ticket than the draft pick.

Hopefully the cost makes sense and that the Flames ability to eat cap makes it hurt less.

I still have a bit of faith that Holtz will be a player. There were times in the first half of last season in NJ where he looked quite good, and had the fans a bit excited. Of course, we’ve all seen the other side of Holtz- where he looks pedestrian.

Put me down for team Pinto, too!
