Yeah that was his worst game so far.

Three in four nights could be part of it.

NHL speed picking up could be as well.

Many more like that and he's Wrangler bound.

I can’t think of a Flames goalie who was as smooth on his skates. When Wolf shifts laterally and resets it looks utterly effortless.

Definitely not unexpected for a 19 year old and a good reminder for the differences between exhibition and real hockey.

He's still the same player that wowed everybody so I'm sure Flames are discussing strategy.

Give him a game off and see how he rebounds?
Send him down?
See if he can fight through it?

Hard to imagine him in the lineup with Sharangovich coming back and Coronato looking for top 9 minutes.

Yeah, I wouldn't look at as a negative for Honzek at all either. It's actually really positive. He proved a lot of people including myself wrong.

Now he just needs to bulk up a bit and play a ton in the AHL and light it up. Get his confidence in his offensive skills, and he is going to be a player for us.

Coronato is interesting. He is not a 4th line player, but the way Huska talked about him said he needs to keep the motor going and he will get more minutes. Don't think work ethic is an issue for him, or ever has been.

Because of his age, I believe Honzek's contract will slide this season if he doesn't play 10 NHL games. You'd have to think that will play into the decision as to whether or not they send him down.

I think a good move would be to give Honzek a popcorn night, and see how Coronato looks in that spot.

That would also allow Klapka back into the lineup, he is really the casualty of Coronado getting back in because I thought he looked damn good in the first two games. Very noticeable considering he played less than 10 mins in each.

Nice problem to have I guess.

Annnnnnd
this morning Sportsnet has 3 headlines about the oilers winning the cup last night, one about Dallas starting undefeated and zero about the Flames.
I know, I shouldn't be surprised, i suppose they are pandering to their audience (I admit, the oilers have a huge audience out there) but, Ken Reid was over the top last night with his bias and zero Flames headlines? unreal

Had to throw in something about the disallowed goal from Sunday. Like STFU. Sounds like a complete loser.

The motor comment is interesting and it can be the hardest attribute to discern when watching on TV since it mainly manifests in play away from the puck. Everyone has a great motor around the puck.

But production counts for a lot and goals are goals. Certainly no accident that Coronato was on the ice at the end of the game with Flames nursing a lead.

Matt Coronato with wheels is a pretty exciting concept.

Thought he had more of a Joe Mullen / Andrew Burnette trajectory where he gets position and has a shot, but can't score on the rush.

Yeah, get Klapka back in, push Coronato up to Kadri's line, and let Honzek watch from above. Probably the best thing for all 3 of them.

Then maybe give Honzek one more crack against the Pens or Canes, before making a decision on him. But if his ELC slides if less than 10 games played, then it's a very easy decision.
