The Donald McRonald is the go to for me at Class Clown. I think its a great burger.
Agree on the fries, they are super disappointing

For those who don't know, a Fat Boy is a burger with chili on it. I don't know if the name translates into something more significant in Greek, however the places in Winnipeg that name a burger "Fat Boy" are typically either Greek owned or started as Greek owned. Juniors and Georges are two of the ones that have a few locations.
Truly disappointing as I was hoping we had found our Flames pre-game spot. But that along with sub-par fries and terrible beer selection (not a single IPA when I went there, and just one pale ale)- I won't be back. However if you like lagers and sours, they have a few of each of those.

You are just mad the photo under the Winnipeg fat boy was of you and not the burger.

I’m going to cycle back here and again say Rain Dog Bar in Inglewood is awesome, and for a date? Great spot. Explore the beers, try the hot pretzels - and everything else I’ve had on the menu is great.

My son and I were in town two weeks ago and after googling best burger in town, we tried Class Clown. Arrived Saturday at 6 and was told four hour wait and takeout was shut down. So we went elsewhere.
Came back Sunday for lunch at 11:30 and walked in. Burger was excellent. Feels like a cool spot to visit when you're nearby, but not the kind of experience you want to have to plan way in advance.
California classic and Donald Mcronald burgers were good. Had the fries with coney sauce which I wouldn't do again, don't really like chili based sauces.
Fun beer menu. would have liked to try more.

Pro-tip: you can quote posts for free. Considering the previous posts were 6 months ago, that would have helped.

Tried Vera’s in Northland yesterday. Other than being a PIA to get to because of construction, it was good. Pricey. Min $15 for a burger, $7 for 6 small onion rings plus drink. It’s restaurant prices. But better than most restaurant burgers so no complaints.
It’s a big tasty burger. It’s what I would describe as more of a home style burger. Just fresh, quality ingredients. Nothing crazy in terms of toppings but they do include a list of free toppings like fried onions.
Service was good. They were very friendly and came by our table more than once to ask how we liked it. Apparently it’s a Vancouver chain.
I’d go back if I was in the NW again.

I always grabbed Vera's when I was flying through Van (been a few years now so don't know if it's still there) and the burger was always solid - poutine was delicious as well.

The burgers at the Rum Runner in Coleman are very good. They sold 18,000 last year.

Recently tried Vera's as well. Great burger, definitely a bit pricey but you truly get what you pay for. Tasty patty, toppings were fresh. Customer service is top notch as well.

You need to specify which Native Tongues. The original location downtown on 12th ave is fantastic because they use the real gaucho grill which gets that wonderful smokey charcoal maillard crust on the patty. The second location they opened in Britania does not have have the charcoal grill, they in fact fry it on a flat top but masquerade it as the same thing, and it is clearly inferior.
I liked Class clown, but not enough to justify the hour+ waits. The coney sauce is just a rip off of Ben's chilli bowl in DC (an Obama favorite), basically a beanless chili that you'd put on a sloppy Joe. Its not that great, it makes the burger a sloppy mess, and overtakes those wonderful beef patties.
I think Lil' Empire is superior all things considered.

Lil' Empire is still best imo, too. Although J spot at that Avenida food hall is damn close and their fries are way better. Love that place.

Where's a good place to get a good smash burger, preferably on the east half of the city? I think the only smash burger I've had is Smashburger and that probably doesn't represent what it truly could be.

Ha, it's the only burger place I don't have to drive to! I don't know if it's Nose Hill and Confederation Park, or what, but the area sometimes feels like the intergalactic void of places to eat.
