i'm looking forward to my mens hockey game tonight - a bunch of oil fans are on my team
i'll be wearing a flames hoodie. under my hoodie i'll be wearing my panthers tee shirt
i know i'll get comments and i will reply with...
"the hoodie is to celebrate last night and the tee shirt is for what i'm thankful for"

Anyone who has ever experienced good leadership knows that the screaming/yelling thing only works a limited number of times. At best, it’s used sparingly.
I remember reading somewhere that in the Bruins locker room there’s a rink on the carpet on the floor. Patrice Bergeron would gather players around to instruct/correct people during intermissions. Not blow a hissy fit.
I noticed a real overuse of “dig in”, “right now”, and “dig in right now” amongst oilers players and media. Just watch for it. Even the coach is overusing it.
I noticed at least 4 uses of this on the broadcast last night.
Almost as embarrassing as that pregame Principe skit. How on earth is someone let in front of a camera doing those things, let alone getting paid for it?

Patrice Bergeron is an actual leader.
Also pretty hard to tolerate listening to a so called leader who really doesn’t pull his own weight. Currently has 2 assists (one is a second assist, one on the PP) and is sitting at -5 through 3 games playing close to 22 mins a game.
Take one look at his effort on Andersson’s goal last night and tells you everything you need to know. A primary reason why the Oilers are losing is Connor McDavid.
Yes he's a hard ass, but his approach quickly gets old with the players.
So not sure how yelling at screaming at players and throwing F bombs makes you a good leader. Leadership is about building a culture via a clear vision and then leading people towards that with a great example. Leaders of hockey teams are not able to hire / fire people, not able to play 'coach', so they can only really do their part to build the culture by setting the standard. That means being an example with the things they have control over.
So want a team to play better defense? Ask if of yourself first. Not sure how the Oilers core is doing that. Everyone likes to rag on Nurse for not being a good defensemen, but its not like the McDavid and Draisaitl are the first back on the back check either.

Leads the league with 6 EV goals against, in 3 games.
Leads the league with a -5.
Leader. Diggin' in.

Point in case is Backlund getting back to break up to 4 on 1. McDavid has the speed to make a difference putting pressure on the back check, he just uses it for offence.
I do think that their team sees it and when they see his effort on the Andersson goal, his be better speech rings hollow. I also noticed that this last game it was very evident that when Calgary took some liberties on their stars (Pachal, Pospisil, Kirkland) there was no response. I wonder if the narrative the of him single-handedly dragging the team has got under the skin of the other players. I didn't watch the Amazon thing, but I wonder if there was any mention of the historic work the PK did or if it was all about McDavid, his points and his tantram.

And you know what style of yelling never works? That whiny childish screaming while flailing your arms around. The shoulder shrugging and around waving is so toddler

Fear is a poor motivator for Gen Z and younger millennials. Same applies in the corporate world where those bosses who rule with an iron fist are quickly becoming obsolete.
i was watching some nhl show today and they were talking about the 0-3 start for the oil. their take was "lack of maturity" at which point i yelled at the tv, "they're the oldest team in the league!!!!"
