Calling Deerfoot Meadows an industrial park is probably the most boomer thing in here.

This is an underrated location, for sure. The hotel is cheap and there are tons of cheap eats options in Deerfoot Meadows, the shopping is pretty good, you can walk up the hill on the dirt path and go to the Farmer's market and have local options, and the river pathway is less than a km away if you are a runner.

I could totally see myself staying here if I was from out of town and was in town visiting relatives or whatever on the South end of the city.

The salmon meal is the only thing worth eating there, and it's pretty good most of the time.

Exactly. Most hotel customers in Calgary aren't tourists, more-so workers and business dicks. So that location makes perfect sense, the same way a place like Airdrie or even Innisfail has so many hotels

I dunno, you might have out-boomered it with the salmon and dirt path comments.

I didn't mind grabbing food at IKEA, but we pretty much stopped when they got rid of the pop and replaced it with some Swedish lingonberry cr@p.

We'd even grab a hot dog on the way out but not anymore. One time after they opened in Deerfoot Meadows I asked the hot dog techician how many they served a day, and she said almost 5,000. Wow.

Whoa...that was a surprise.

Did you guys know they're closing 400 7/11 locations? Basically any one not associated with a gas station?

I went to work and the 7/11 I usually go to for soft drinks and coffee milk is all boarded up.

I was surprised, because they just did renovations like 3 months ago.

Which location Is that?

I used to go to 7/11 regularly for drinks or snacks but I prefer Circle K or Dollarama these days.

The location on 10th Ave has already put basic items like candy behind locked doors so I wouldn't be surprised if it's one of the 400. They already closed the other downtown location, along with a couple of Circle Ks.

I should clarify, the 400 locations I think is all of North America, the one I was referring to is the one on Ogden Road.

The Ogden Road 7-11 was a frequent haunt of mine as well. Sad to see it closing. I’ve gotten to know a few of the cashiers there over the years and hope they land on their feet. Agnes is one of the friendliest people I have ever met.

Also, now I have to find another DrPepper Zero source. The gas station across the street doesn’t carry it.

Man...I cant imagine how that place could have been considered as 'under-performing.'

The employees were great, my employees and I would go there all the time for drinks, snacks and supplies and I know with all of the construction in the area they got tons of lunch business.

I gotta tell ya...it was just so convenient that I'm sad to see it closing.

Most of the time you just shrug your shoulders and..."welp...thats the market."

But this one kind of hurts. It feels a little personal. And the staff! Nothing but awesome!

Dollarama is great for drinks, way cheaper. Only place I'll buy Gatorade Zero.

I honestly figured troutman was just confused and thinking of a different area. It was a bizarre description of a large shopping district.

Now I'm curious - how much is GZero at Dollarama? I usually buy it at Wal-Mart, six for $6.97... sometimes $6 if it's on sale
