Personally I find the location questionable in a commercial area that is unwalkable from any residential neighborhood, but am willing to try it once.
Where are the best pubs in the city these days? Which pubs (or even sports bars) are the best for watching a Flames game on TV?

Shark Club was always a ####hole, I never got that place.
Bad food, bad service, mutton dressed up a lamb servers.
I can’t tell you the best pubs, but my advice is find a “local”.
A pub you can walk to, even in winter. I am lucky I have 3 walkable from my front door, 4 if I wanna go for a longer walk.
Makes it much cheaper to go out to watch a game.

It’s right next to a hotel.

I'm not sure that area is an "industrial park" a big box store estate is a closer descriptor.

People travelling on business, visiting friends/family in the south of the city, or planning to shop at the stores all around. It’s not uncommon for hotels to be situated in the outlying retail big-box areas of a city. Especially when it’s just off a main highway, like Deerfoot/Highway 2.

In terms of pubs in the suburbs, I like the Kilt and Caber. Lots of TVs and the food is really fantastic.

Hey, at least Deerfoot Meadows was able to pull off what the area around the Saddledome hasn't yet. Get a hotel.

I've stayed in a lot worse locations. Besides not everyone being able to afford (or desire) to stay at a Palliser/Le Germain, this type of location is basically where chain motels reside. It's not like Motel Village, or the ones by the airport, are any more glamorous. At least here you can go for a cheap lunch at Ikea, and then shop for a Ferrari.

Boomers.
Travelling with my father throughout my life has sent me to some interesting industrial park hotels.
Outside of work trips where he wanted to stay close to the offices or shops he was going to, my favourite Boomer-brain thinking is when he would want to stay close to the airport the night before a flight (regardless of when that flight was leaving or how little time is shaved off the drive time).
Last night in Paris before heading home? Why stay in the city soaking up one last night, when we can stay in the Holiday Inn Express at the airport so we have plenty of time to catch our 1pm flight the next day!
Event better when Airport hotels were too expensive so the next best option was the industrial park next to the airport.
