They deserve 100 more of those after the Blake Coleman “kicking motion”.
It was shameful. The Flames probably weren't winning that series the way they were going, but for the first playoff BOA in 30 years, it deserves to go 6+ games.
Also knowing it was Gaudreau's last series in Flames silks..... the league really bungled it.
Then we can go back to the Bennett and Gelinas "parallax effect" no goals.
Flames have an avalanche of good fortune due. Including in the lottery.
Some may disagree. Controversial yes. But I like the edge shown by backlund on slash of Skinner. Winners do that in playoffs. Agitation causing a bruise to a star player. Whatever it helps

Credit to CP member bc-chris for sending me some monogrammed toilet paper. I left a little gift on my golf pro's desk earlier this summer. Mel is a huge Oilers fan. You can imagine the reaction when he found it

There's no reason to assume the Oilers win a faceoff, so they have a 50% chance of losing possession. So the whistle denies them sure possession with forward momentum, and puts the goalie back in the net (or risks a Flames faceoff win and easy goal). A mid-ice faceoff usually eats a good five seconds off the clock as well. It also allowed the Flames defenders the same rest.
The Flames aren't a two-person team.
There is no debate here - a timeout for McDavid and Draisaitl was worth far more than any debate about how many seconds it would take them to regain the zone either way.

I loved it, because I think it was retaliation for Perry's BS on Vladar before the goal that was called back. You go after our goalie, we'll go after yours....

I've always felt that if a Goalie is out to play the puck he's Fair Game.
I dont like the slash because I dont like slashing, but if he's out to play the puck then you should be able to lay him out like any other player.
If he's futzing around with the puck behind his net, you should be allowed to clear him out and take it.
He gets to be special. When he's in his Blue Paint. Outside of that? Open Season.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

-No distractions of several player on the verge of being traded and the agent/team drama outside the rink
-Huberdeau going from a pedestrian liability to something close to the superstar that broke the record for LW assists
-Andersson looking like a bonafide #1D after wandering the desert last year also
-Pospisil destroying whatever ceiling people put on him when he made the show
-Zary himself looking like a budding star after tailing off at the end of last season
-A significantly better 4th line to provide energy and set the right tone for the next line
-A better brain behind the PP (Savard was awful)
If they're gaining elite play from guys that they weren't getting before and hit on their defense signings after the blue line was decimated from the trades, maybe it isn't completely farfetched that they could be flirting with playoffs.
Out of thanks again (can somebody explain to me how the "thanks" works?) but excellent post!
