It’s the inability of the media hacks like Spector to recognize that the grievances against players is their own making. Emberson is blamed for the failure of his team in his 40 minute cameo on the second pair with nurse. Did Emberson at any time anoint himself as the great saviour of Nurse? Skinner (media appointment as the new fuhr, ranford or moog) is also blamed for not being those players and for not giving his team a chance. And the gratuitous use of “right now” to somehow suggest a parallel between the hack cheerleaders and actual hockey people… Throw in a quote from Mavi about big mistakes made by the team with zero personal awareness, accountability, or perspective that he himself blew backchecks, and couldn’t get a shot on net, never mind a goal or assist that everyone is reminded of that he’s the best ever at. Maybe that’s why Mavi is so unlikable; zero accountability or personal awareness.
Edmonton media are bullies; look at the quotes from Emberson and Skinner, the accusations from media, coaches, Mavi…it’s clear that the accountability falls onto the players that are deemed unworthy.
An obligatory Spector quote about Chicago and Calgary being bottom feeders, and you’ve got your Saturday morning column for mouth breathers, written by mouth breathers.
And the angst “right now” about the possibility of last year’s oilers start repeating itself is delicious.

It always amazes me when you see Edm media interview players from the team edm is playing. They always...always...ask that guy something about how it is playing against mcdavid, or drai or edmonton in general. Normal interviews arent like that.
What really sucks is that last season the Oilers were down, out and dead but made it to the Finals so they're going to have endless optimism this season.
I hate that. I want to see souls crushed!
Thank you Tigers.
It doesn't suck - it is awesome!
If they had self-awareness, they might realize some of their shortcomings, and try to address them. But nope, when they struggle, they'll simply shrug and say "Cup Finals Hangover - we'll be fine, just like we were last year!" and leave their heads fully buried in the sand.

There's chronic soul crushing where they feel down and out throughout the season and the acute soul crushing where they have there dream ripped out of their hands when it looks like it's within their grasp. I can get behind either when it comes Edmonton 's souls.

Principe is the worst. I’m actually not that surprised anymore when you realize that it’s a regional presentation with national and international broadcast rights.
It’s like there’s 2 teams and 30 Washington Generals.
I’m just waiting for someone to ask McDavid what it’s like playing with himself out there and his answer becoming instantly meme worthy.

I think the secret may be to play McDavid and Draisaitl together. Say every second shift and most of the power play time, until the Oil build a lead and then the 3rd and 4th line guys can get some ice time. It seems to have worked in the past. Knoblach falling into that coaching trap that it is a team game and everyone has to contribute. None of those coaches lasted.
Yes. The “secret”…

You know, maybe the time of McDavid and Draisiatl is over, I mean Leon's got his big contract so he doesn't care, and McDavid is a spastic temper tantrum away from a long rest in Arkham Asylum.
Maybe the Oilers need to find their next Albert
