Then they go to intermission, and there is zero mention of the Oiler game at all and I thought it must be really bad, like a blowout like game 1 last year. Then about halfway through the 2nd, Stackhouse casually mentions that the Jets are up 5-0, and I laughed. Yup, so predictable - Sportsnet could not bring themselves to even talk about the Oilers being down. Had it been 5-0 Oilers, we would have been subjected to highlights between every whistle.
Some people think that the Sportsnet bias is just our imagination. It is not. Once you see it, and watch for it, it is INCREDIBLY rampant, among every single member of the Sportsnet crew. As I said, I knew the Oilers were getting blown out, simply by the silence, and the muted tones of the panel as they were (remorsefully) discussing the VAN-CGY game.
Please, please Hockey Gods... Please give us a TV contract from someone other than Rogers, for Flames games.
Also... Haha, stupid Oilers!
|
If you find Reddit comments of American fans that were watching a Sportsnet feed, they almost always point this out. Its like an advertisement for the Oilers, even when the Oilers aren't playing.

So tonight the Hawks play in Winnipeg, then travel to Edmonton to play Saturday. Team on a B2B. Then tomorrow the Flames play the Flyers, then travel to Edmonton for a B2B Sunday. Two games in less than 24 hours. Oilers play a B2B, but at home. Flyers on a B2B as well, playing in YVR Friday. 4 teams, 4 B2Bs from Friday to Sunday. WTF? Such intelligent scheduling by the NHL.

Won't matter. Hockey gods will undo all the good fortune spun their way. I have faith.

By the time I looked, Toronto had played their second game and actually scored a goal. Edmonton was the only team left in that category, therefore, by definition, first. (And last.)

Well, that have that stupid 4 team tournament this year.
That replaces the all-star week, and the bye week for teams.
You won't have as many back-to-back games if the PA didn't insist on a bye week for some reason.

Listening to 960 this afternoon. They said the grease have the oldest average age by a full year. Only one forward under 30.
That should end well.

What really sucks is that last season the Oilers were down, out and dead but made it to the Finals so they're going to have endless optimism this season.
I hate that. I want to see souls crushed!
Thank you Tigers.

Anyone see The Hockey's News article the other day where they polled hockey writers about various things in the NHL? The one poll that really caught my eye was the one about who was the most overpaid player in the league. Guess who #1 was? None other than Darnell Nurse. That's a player who just keeps on giving to the Oilers.... giving nothing and draining their coffers
Sorry don't know how to post the link to the article. If someone could that would be awesome

I don’t know what has happened to the hockey news, but it just doesn’t reach me anymore. Maybe I’ve changed.
Some other gems: none of the oilers players even got a vote for “older player most likely to show age”, pissy gets a vote for most underpaid, and only one vote for greaserville for “buyer’s remorse”.
Surely more than one person out there has to have considered that loading up on wrinklies wasn’t a good idea.

Isn't Nurse making 12M in actual salary this year?I think his agent deserves a fruit basket from other GMs for the cap anchor it has been during the back half of McDavid 's contract and prime years.
