let's say that team was Colorado (that was one rumor or suggestion I heard) if they are still interested they would put in another claim


but in the meantime, possibly another team (like the Flames) who sat out the last 2 rounds on this player now decides maybe they want to put in a claim given that they have lost a few players in the meantime to waivers and injury , they would have priority now over Colorado


so the process has to play out all over again (teams are hypothetical perhaps but a scenario that isn't out of the realm of possible)

waiver priority is probably based on actual standings (end of last year), not affected by oilers going to cup final, so the oilers would be low 20's or whatever, instead of 31.
