Yes, but, then you can't say "Stanley Cup," which is a thing that Oilers shills want to be able to say as much as humanly possible.

This is what I love about Edmonton media, be they bloggers or otherwise. This is from Oilers Nation I think

If anything, Wednesday was another good wake up call for the Oilers, a realization that teams across the league have put targets on Edmonton’s backs. That’s what happens when you’re perenially one of the best teams in the league...

In what decade are you recalling where the Oilers were one of the League's best teams?

last 1st overall finish. 1987
last top 3 finish 1988
last top 5 finish 1990
last regular season division title 1987
to be 'fair'? I guess the last 5 years they are 9th-6th-11th-11th-12th so I suppose perenially one of the top to middle third teams in the league doesn't have quite the same ring to it but sure , for the last little while they are a perennial playoff team- like many others- teams play them hard- its a hard league

Exactly! Why not, they need a C now and a young one for the 4th line becomes available. Why not!

Flames should grab him and hold him until Rooney is back.
And then another team with an injury should grab and hold him.
And then another.
And another.
And another.
Musical chairs, and Edmonton always loses.

Sweet - was hoping the Oilers would put him back on waivers. With Schwindt gone, and Rooney down, the Flames need to grab him.

Strange, when did they win a division title?
Surely one of the best teams would be able to best 7 other teams to win their division.
Just amazing gymnastics after a 6-0 drubbing. We lost only because envy drives our opponents!

I'd argue that the Jets last night played their normal game. The Oilers just looked like badly coached, slow flowing out of the outhouse hose crap. Like they did through the preseason.

You have to remember, they're not well-educated up there. They actually meant "raining Cup Finalists".

One of the real challenges facing the Oilers is not just the fans expectations, but also the media. Listening to the skinner scrum, the questions are worse than you would get from coaches or team mates.
It’s like the Mavi tantrum but from people that can’t actually skate. In fact, it was as if skinner had already been given the Mavi blowdryer treatment. He was pretty down.
The Edmonton media sure take liberties with anyone not currently in favour. That person right now is skinner.

I thought if they claimed Lavoie they could send him down without waivers again as he was already waived by them. I'm sure I read that somewhere but maybe I misunderstood.

when they claimed him back another team put in a claim (but a team that finished ahead of them in last years standings so Oilers had dibs), but because of that he has to be waived again

If nobody else made a claim. But someone did so they had to keep him on the roster.

Got in my comments third. I’m reigning runner up to the runner up! #bannerworthy
Someone else put a claim in from above the Oilers so they got the player but he has to clear again.
If you were the player, I think it would show that the Oilers don’t really care about you. Like that girlfriend…”come here, go away”.
Oilers fans asking why not insert him into the lineup…not like the Oilers even scored last night. Maybe cap issues…but that’s what $53 gets you!

Jason Gregor is saying too that Vegas is now his original team so they could do what the Oilers did and reclaim him and if nobody else put in a claim they could send him directly to the minors.
