You can tell that they are going hard after the blue collar white male vote in the midwest / rust belt in attempt to tilt those swing states. I live in Ohio but since I'm 15 mins from the Michigan border I spend a lot of time in Michigan and was just in Wisconsin on business. The highways in each of those states are littered with billboards featuring 'Macho Man' type caricatures professing their vote preference for Harris. One featured a bearded bulky navy seal guy saying "I'm voting for Harris' and it has just underneath his name in bigger font 'Navy Seal'. This is in conjunction with a campaign that's trying to move to the right.
Personally I think there's more to votes to sow in those states from tripling down on the abortion issue to motivate the female vote to the polls than trying to win over the above demographic with Harris. Especially since the state houses of those states oscillate republican from time to time. Reproductive rights could definitely be on the table in those places under a Republican governor / State house / State Senate with a Trump presidency.

Democrats just need to abandon the older white male demographic, they're pretty much a lost cause until boomers start dying off in significant numbers. And you're completely correct, abortion has been the key issue in every democratic state election win since Row v Wade was overturned. Keep hitting that drum, get women out in record numbers, that's the only way that Kamala wins IMO

The truth is everyone thought it was in the bag and a lot of people didn't bother voting

God this Presidential race is painful, and both Candidates are truly awful.
I thought Harris would have pulled away by now, but she really hasn't, instead it feels like she's confused any of the undecided voters.

What makes Harris "truly awful"?
What makes Trump "truly awful"?

Both are not 'awful', only one is. There is a very clear choice in this election based on intellect, wit, leadership, logic, international credibility, and most importantly of all, integrity. Hint: it's not Trump.
The fact that this isn't obvious to people is outstandingly embarrassing.

It is obvious. There are no undecided. There never really was this time.
Get the vote out

It's worth remembering when we were pondering possible Biden replacements after the debate that the nearly universal consensus here was that Harris was not a particularly great candidate. It's why people pondered virtually anyone else, Shapiro, Walz, Whitmer, Michelle, Newsom etc... And, sure enough, Harris has been a middling candidate. Yes, she can form coherent sentences, yes, she's not mentally insane, but no, Murica hasn't stopped being Murica, so that alone isn't good enough. A better candidate would have this thing close to wrapped up at this point.

Look at any normal country and how many people show up for political rallies.
This stuff is very normal, very cool.

I just don’t know if I believe that. Whitmer would be the same issue as Harris in terms of a few things and wouldn’t have energized the minority base. Newsom, I just don’t see how he’s doing better than she would be. I just keep looking at the roster and thinking we’d be in the same damn place. It’s a 47-47 country and you are just fighting for a couple of percent.
They want their strongman down there, and they are trending towards getting him and I’m not sure there was an amazing candidate out there to avoid it.

Well, she is awful according to you along with Trump, so why did you think she would pull away?
This election has 1 clear choice. The fact it is this close again is absolutely embarrassing.
The momentum and shine has worn off, but that still shouldn't make this close. This week has felt a bit deflating, and the speech from Obama yesterday while it was great, it was a bit concerning. Him and Michelle hardly ever mention Trump by name, and he went after him hard yesterday. It tells you internal polling is not showing what they want at the moment.
All they needed to do was carry that momentum for a few months and they let it lag, and here we are again.
