Good 1st NHL game. But he also only got 13 minutes ice time in a game where we only had 11 forwards.

I suspect he gets a cup of coffee and goes to the A so he can minute munch in all situations.

Definitely noticed Bahl’s physical play. He really punished guys in the corners. He and Andersson struggled with their coverage a few times and they also struggled with the Canucks forwards getting behind them. But both of them got better as the game went on (just like the whole team).

I didn't get to watch that live. I wasn't in cell service.

How do the lines look w Rooney out??

Huberdeau - Pospisil - Mantha
Zary - Backlund - Coleman
Honzek/Coronato - Kadri - Kuzmenko
Lomberg - Morton - Klapka

(Morton up, Coronato & Honzek rotate until one is sent down to get minutes)

We hoped we were getting another Marchant in Pelletier.
Maybe we have one in Pospisil??

If he has a good season, they should look at giving him a long term extension.

With his skill set, speed and fitness, I could see him being a productive player, regardless of the line, for a number of years (assuming he doesn't get concussions).

From his perspective, he would likely welcome the stability as well.

I just wish Mantha landed that haymaker at the end to teach that little #### a lesson.
Then every chucky reverse hit would also be a penalty. I hate Miller but it was unlucky for Rooney he was off balance but the puck carrier isn't going to be called for hitting a player coming at him

Pospisil line with 5 points in total and I really like them as well. Marty rocked a 25% in the dot on the night. As that improves, this line could be even more effective.
The Bean signing will prove to be sneaky good. He doesn't need to dominate just slide in and play solid hockey. There were a few times in the 3rd where he slowed things down after regaining the puck from the canucks who were pushing. Very smart plays. Hope it continues.

Not worried about Anderson and Bahl. Soak time is right. I think they will form chemistry very quickly. It is really only Bahl's second or third week practicing. For a big man he skates well and his reads are very good as well. A little discombobulated in the first but that is to be expected.

I like all three pairings and said the same thing about Barrie and Hanley. Don't need both of those guys in the box watching. I would waive Hanley and bring up a forward. I understand playing versus watching but there are also NHL practices versus the AHL. Big difference there as well. I would have had Morton on the club instead of Hanley.

Not yet. Gaskal said one might be up by this evening.

Fun fact. There were 2 Gordie Howe hat tricks in the game. Gordie Howe only had 2 in his career.

additional fun facts ( i had to wikipedia one of these to find out) but anyways there is a fun wikipedia page on Gordie Howe Hattricks

last night was the 5th 'double gordie' which Miller and Mantha get for fighting each other

there have been 4 other double Gordie games

Iggy had one against Adam Henrique
Tinordi was involved in a game where there were 2 double Gordies!

Risebrough was the first person to Gordie in 2 consecutive games! Later also done by Trouba

Brian Sutter sits (behind Tocchet and Shanahan) as 3rd all time in Gordies

Iggy sits in 7th or 8th

Best part about last night's game is they looked like a team that cared. Thats a good start.

Yeah maybe. Conroy has said this very thing.

Somewhat off topic. I like Kadri and Kuzmenko in OT. And Zary and Pospisil certainly worked well.

But Huberdeau and Backlund doesn't look great. Backlund not an ideal OT player and doesn't really complement Huberdeau.

Agreed. Backlund slows the game down, which is the last thing Huberdeau needs. Pospisil or Kuzmenko or Sharangovich would be better partners for him.

On honzek's ice time: he got tons of shifts, they were just short. Had more shifts than some forwards who had 4 minutes more ice time.

agree or disagree I suspect Backlund was out in part for that sequence given the defensive zone draw (although he may well be in the current OT rotation regardless) that started their sequence

Chucky was once suspended for a relatively tame reverse hit.
