Well he's better than 95% of people on the planet that are lacing them up at any level.

He's just not in the top ~750 who comprise the top league on earth. No shame in that. It's a tough gig.

Might have lost a Byron. Won’t matter with where the Flames are at in their cycle

Guessing he’ll play a year or two more in the AHL and head over to Europe

Ok
You are right
I should have been clearer
If he is claimed he needs to be kept on the roster he cannot simply be assigned so if he is good enough to remain on another roster, all the power to him because he isn’t good enough right now to be on this roster
Whatever number he is wearing

It is too bad Pelletier was waiver eligible this year. I think next season is where the organization won't be able to hide kids, as Honzek and Parekh will both be sure-fire starters on the team, perhaps Gridin (as Huska expects him to challenge for a spot), the Flames first round pick from this upcoming draft, and maybe another surprise or two. A handful of prospects become waiver-eligible next season, so there will be more exposed.

I argue that this is an unnecessary risk this season, at least when you factor-in that Pelletier had a great start to his pro career, with only one poor season where he got injured.

Either Conroy is pretty sure that Pelletier will not be claimed... or Conroy has an eye on someone else whom he wants to claim, and will try to sneak Pelletier down now instead. Maybe Conroy simply feels that Pelletier doesn't have enough upside to warrant protection now.

I do think that both Honzek and Klapka went beyond expectations and certainly solidified themselves in this lineup. They both deserve to be here, unquestionably. It is probably the right thing to do. I do think it will cost Pelletier, but you never know. I haven't see whom else was waived around the league, so maybe he passes.

I think Cooley and Schwindt will both pass.

Sad for Pelletier really. However, congratulations to both Honzek and Klapka! I am keeping my fingers crossed for Pelletier.

Good for pelts, hope he gets a decent opportunity somewhere. No biggy to the flames if he gets picked up. Flames are stacked at LW, and P3lts is pretty small for the style he plays at this level. Would be nice to hang on to him, but his ceiling seems to be Mangiapane and we had no need for him either at this time.

I was looking at that waiver list and Nolan Foote stood out to me as a player maybe in Connie's wheelhouse for a claim.

I think BRZ or Crushnikov are the next Dmen in line ahead of Parekh. He needs to mature physically for a couple more years. He’s literally just a kid. The other two are men.

It’s a man league. That’s what Parekh himself even said.

You're treated "waived" as gone for nothing.

The true end game is getting him thru waivers and to the AHL where he can find his game and then get called back up.

That happens and you're not bemoaning the loss of a 7th round pick.

I'm curious about how deep the Flames' competitive analysis goes. In addition to analyzing the players and team construction of their rivals, do they also dig into historical decision-making and evaluate the biases inherent in those decisions so they can project opponents' potential moves?

As I like the player, and I'm aware it doesn't make much sense to claim him, I kinda want the Flames to claim Lavoie. Big fast RHS RW .

Trading away players for prospects for a rebuild means we get a lot of prospects and we can’t keep them all. This is the byproduct and it’s gonna get worse. I would have kept him but I also recognize o don’t know anything and am just an idiot fan.

If it works it’s a shrewd move like Kylungton was. Gotta take some chances.

The draft is like buying a puppy. It’s awesome at first but at some point they will need to be put down most likely and it sucks.

hope they both clear.

Honestly, I think this sucks. It's not that Pelletier has cemented an NHL spot by any means, but putting him on waivers while you're keeping a 33 year old guy as your 8th defenseman is just bad asset management, any way you look at it.

I certainly don't know, but there are 22 teams who put players on waivers today. I would think it is a decent bet that none of these teams is especially eager to pick anyone up from the wire. Theyre just trying to get their opening night rosters set and cap compliant in time.

The remaining ten teams are Florida, Montreal, CBJ, Philadelphia, Colorado, Dallas, Minnesota, Anaheim, SJ and Seattle.

Six of these teams had players on waivers yesterday, and they all cleared. Colorado just traded Brannstrom to Vancouver to avoid losing him on waivers.

The best-case scenario is the Flames pick someone off that waivers list who they think is better than Pelletier and that Pelletier clears.

Are there any centres of note on today's waiver list?
