Heading to Austria / Central Europe in December during peak christmas market season.
I have travelled most of the region about a decade ago, but first time for my wife.
Thinking of doing a big chunk of Austria (Vienna, Wachau valley, Salzburg etc.) before heading east to Budapest / Prague.
Any recommendations for Hungary / Czechia outside of the big cities (besides Cesky Krumlov)

One of my favourite aviation experiences flying Qantas from Perth to Sydney uo there. Enjoy, it’s pretty cool.

BA had J upstairs on theirs. F was downstairs in the nose. Don't even know who operates them anymore other than cargo, KE, and LH.

Google says it's just Air China, Korean Air, and Lufthansa who are still flying regularly scheduled 747 passenger flights.

No but there’s no cockpit up there, so seats go right to the nose which is interesting. It’s very intimate, climbing those stairs is like ascending to a private club. Nobody streaming past you to get to their seats. On the ground you are a long way up there. It’ felt quieter you are high and forward of the engines.

Questions about up coming WestJet (direct) flight to Paris. Depart YYC at 7:40pm, arrive in Paris 12:30pm. Flight includes “meal”. Would this be served after departure (dinner) or before arrival (breakfast). Also read that flight includes alcohol beverages, is this still the case? Never had an open bar on a flight before.

Usually it's a dinner early in the flight and a light breakfast prior to landing, allowing for sleep between. But I haven't done that flight just basing it on others.

Generally a meal would be served at the beginning of the flight but I haven’t flown to Europe or taken a flight that long in many years so I can’t say whether they would also serve breakfast. Drinks are free on transatlantic flights with air Canada so I’d imagine westjet is probably the same.

99% sure It will be dinner; turn the light off so people can sleep; lights on for light breakfast closer to landing.
I've flow to London many times and Paris once with similar flight times and this has always been the case.
Unless some strange changes have occurred, it will be that.

hot meal about 90 minutes after take off
Breakfast gets served way before you land, so some find it kind of annoying, as you would rather sleep then get woken up 3 hrs before landing to eat. Id rather not got woken up and just get a better sleep.

I agree. The annoying part is how they fire all the lights up.

I flew to Paris last spring through WestJet, yeah dinner was early into the flight - I want to say in the first couple hours. I remember regretting getting ramen at the airport as I didn't realize the meal would be that early into the flight. They want to get you nice & full and sleepy then turn down all the lights / tint the windows so we'll all shut up and go to sleep haha

I think the annoying part is that the breakfast is usually terrible. Especially on AC when they serve those heartburn-inducing, mouth-searing hot pockets. Just exactly the wrong thing to serve on a long flight.

I did this last year.
You got a meal, about an hour or two after take off?
Then you got a breakfast snack about an hour before landing. Like a breakfast sandwich.
Not sure what you mean by open bar?
- I usually get a mini bottle of wine when they are serving dinner, but I don't think you are able to just order beers/hi-balls for free
